Phantom Console

Hey everyone! Lately I have been making a couple of next-gen console blogs and I plan to possibly keep to that. :) So on the topic at hand. Back in the early 2000's when we still had PS2's and Gamecube's in production, behind the scenes there was a console being developed that you didn't know about... I'm assuming you don't know. It's called...

The Phantom

The console would be able to provide users with on demand gaming and would be available for release sometime in 2004. It would be made by a company called Phantom Entertainment. 0_0 and used 220 employers to design the product.

Reasons to buy the the console

It was to provide "The greatest experience for gamers" since not only would it play games online but play every PC game. It would be aimed at using the internet and it's own Phantom private service to sell it's games so that it's cheaper because they wouldn't have to print or package any disks. These prices would be pretty cheap ranging from $2-$50 although I get my games for £20 so it wouldn't bother me. :) Also trials and renting games online was not common in the early 2000's and Phantom would be able to do just that.

Here are the interfaces players could have used if the console was released:

Reasons not to buy the console

If you were to buy the Phantom, you would need to have a Broadband connection and the internet was fairly new at the time and there would be a high number of PC's you could buy instead. Another issue would be monthly fees. Most gamers are not used paying for their console over a period of months. $29.95 a month is too much for players and for the gaming world, it won't sell compared with online services you have to pay over a year. I'm looking at you Xbox Live! Before it would be, you pay for your console for once and then enjoy your games so a lot of people wouldn't like it.

Audience

This would be something for hardcore gamers of course but the main audience it would be aimed to would be adults who didn't want the large amount of money you would find with packaged games.... but they could pay some monthly fees instead. :D Although children under 10 still play 18 games like GTA and COD so it might have gained a higher audience. My friends have played GTA since the age of 4.

However despite all this information, the only thing that was shown was the prototype at E3 2004.

Why is this?

Well Phantom Entertainment kept pushing the release date back (and kept changing their name to Infinite Labs for some reason) that was for the Holidays in 2004, January 2005, March 2005 and finally they said it would launch the same time as the Xbox 360... it didn't. This also leads in to the financial problems in making the device

Financial problems

The company did not reach the $30 million funding for it's Phantom gaming service so they began constructing and selling the Lapboard which would be used with the video game console but overall they lost $62.7 million just in the creation of the console. In February 2007 it missed it's deadline (no surprise there) and was announced in December 2007, that the console was no longer in development. This has become one of the biggest business and gaming controversies. However Phantom Entertainment is still around, producing and selling it's Lapboard devices.

What if Phantom was released?

If the Phantom was released, it would have been able to compete with the likes of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo and could have been successful with the ability to play PC games on a console but I think it may have been more successful if it was released a few years later. Maybe 2-4 years after it's initial release of 2004 so that internet becomes more common. It would have to compete with PC's and streaming devices but may have been popular enough to spawn a successor and learn from it's mistakes e.g monthly fees. Who knows? Maybe we could have better exclusives than the ones you see today and maybe could have been able to port Xbox games as well.

So what do you think about the Phantom?

Thanks for reading. :)

I'm going back to school soon so making more blogs will depends how much work I get. If I get a lot, I might not be able to write one for a while but if I don't get much I will be able to write a couple, maybe more than one a week. It won't be 2 blogs a day lol that's only in holidays but I will still be talking and commenting on blogs.

So here's just a couple of funny vids. :D

Assassin's Creed 4 Modern Day (Spoilers)

$

Just to recap on what happened in Assassin's Creed 3, the world is saved from the approaching Solar flare. William Miles, Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings make their way from the temple where Desmond is killed and Juno comes back, possibly with the intention to enslave Humanity... again. So this are just some of the paths that Ubisoft could take for this new game.

When

Continuing right after the ending

Pretty much play as one of the three assassins left although are they really the last assassins all over the globe? In the previous games, they always said there were still many assassins left even after the assassin purge. Their numbers much less than the Templars and communications are destroyed but it could also take place on one of these remaining assassins. Maybe Juno takes time to take after the world so the assassins still have time to stop her or that the Templars become brainwashed and they have to stop them.

Modern - JophieLS

100s of years in the future

They may take the game to a complete different era so that's it's completely different from the previous modern day settings. If you think about it, if Juno's is going to enslave Humanity, she's going to disable every advantage Humans will have against her e.g Firearms, Atomic bombs. By this time everyone would have become like they were in the First-Civilization era and the main character would have to find Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) or Piece of Edens (POEs) of course by using an Animus to relive their ancestors lives.

The Assassin's Creed series has always been about exploring historical events in an open world experience with the modern day being linear and having limited gameplay. With the modern day similar to the First Civilization now, possibly up to half of the game could be about exploring cities in the modern day mostly fighting brainwashed Humans.

The story could also lead in to the Assassins and Templars teaming up to stop Juno. It's unlikely the Templars will join Juno (unless they're brainwashed) since the Templars want to control for peace where Juno is using it for self-interest.

Near Future - DM-P18

Abstergo subjects

In order to see what Abstergo's past with the Animus, we would need a game about some of the earlier Abstergo subjects with very different ancestors than the previous games (Egyptian, Chinese) including events such as the bleeding affect.

Some people haven't read the comics (including me) and the stories of Subjects 4 and 16 as well as their ancestors so they could make video game adaptations about them. I think this is unlikely though as I don't think they're gonna continue or start new stories rather than look back on one they've made.

Origins of Abstergo

Around the 1930s when Abstergo was established, secretly controlled by the Templar order and maybe how they discovered and remade the Animus.

No Modern Day

A lot of people didn't enjoy the Desmond sections and don't even want a Modern Day part in the game. To me I don't think they should do this as the AC series makes you think what will happen next and what have the ancestors left for the modern day. Without it, it would seem meaningless.

Character

So far there is no way of knowing who the main character is. It could be an Assassin, Templar, part of a new order or just a normal person thrown in to a situation. Maybe the assassin could be as stealthy as Altair, charismatic as Ezio and as brutal as Connor... with Desmond's hood. :)

I think that the next lead should be female because we haven't seen a female character use the Animus so far.

Console

The console is very likely to be next gen since it's slated for a 2015 release (unless the end of the world happens before then) so the graphics and realism will be updated by then with possibly a new engine because of a new Animus to be used during the game. I'm not sure if it will be on the Ouya, Gamestick or any of the newly announced consoles but it's definitely going to be on the next Playstation and Xbox and PC.

Gameplay

If Ubisoft decides to add more modern day sections, then they may have to be some open world sections and gameplay. I think that more things should be added to the Eagle Vision such as seeing through walls and maping out what routes to take so you could choose whether to go in to combat, stay completely stealthy by not affecting any of the enemies at all and creating distractions to get around areas to reach a destination.

So what do you think they should do with the Modern Day? Do you think it should stay in the series or better to keep it?

Thanks for reading. :)

Driver: San Francisco PS3 Review

$
0
0

This is my first review I'm writing so far but I've seen a lot of video game reviews so I think I have an idea of what I need to say although feel free to go easy. :)

So the review...

The Driver series is a game series about... well driving but many different forms from car chases to races and finally after 7 years we get another Driver game after the controversial Driv3r. Driver: San Francisco takes place with Detective Tanner trying to hunt down Jericho... again in which it takes them from Istanbul to San Francisco. During a series of events, Jericho breaks out of his prison chains and both of them end up in a car chase. Tanner becomes slammed in to a coma where most of the game takes place.

Gameplay

Driver: San Francisco is still developed by Reflections except that it is no longer published by Atari and is overseen by Ubisoft so there have been a few tweeks since Driv3r. The major change is the fact that you can't get out of your car anymore which is great since Driver was originally meant to be based on car chases an this game brings it back to the old, classical days of the PS1 but don't think that this prevents you to change cars quicker and easier. No, far from it. The new shift ability allows players to use a bird's-eye view of San Francisco and simply click on the car they want to transport right in to the vehicle.

As you progress through the game, this ability becomes much better as you can see a higher point of the map so you can teleport across the city in seconds. This is really cool as you never feel as if you want to travel on foot but don't think that you'll get to drive boats or discover secret places. It's the sacrifice Ubisoft made with taking away running on foot gameplay.

Another new game device is willpower. This can be won be so many things which range from simple things from passing cars to completing side missions and stunt dares in which it adds to an income system in which you receive more WP (Willpower) every 20 minutes... similar to Assassin's Creed 2. :D You have a lot of choices of what to do with this WP like buying new cars (it's gonna take a while to buy all of them since there are 120 licensed cars to buy), buying garages for more challenges and buying abilities such as longer speed boosts.

On to the side missions, there sure are a lot of them and there are a lot varieties such as races where you control 2 cars and you have to shift in between them to win against 2 other opponents, taking down enemy cars and even the classical car chases and races from the original Driver where abilities and shift are disabled.

Story

The story is much more different than the previous games. As I said before, most of the game takes place in a coma and Tanner has to piece together these clues in order to find the answers of Jericho's bomb threat and wake up from his long, deep sleep. The shift ability works well with the plot but the story has become lighter and the characters don't seem like they were in the previous games which may put veteran Driver fans off. At the start of the coma missions, it seems inconsistent when Tanner doesn't understand the power he has (even though it is just a dream), he starts shifting in to racers and competing in events which can be fun but I don't think it's played out well when you return to Tanner's car with Tobas (Tanner's detective partner) yelling, "what just happened?!"

It isn't all bad as you get to know more about the characters in the way of conversations, the story becomes more interesting and crazy (in a good way) where the drivers around San Francisco become more likeable and there tends to be some humour when you shift in to a vehicle while the passenger's taking a driving lesson. Not a good time. :D The rivalry between Tanner and Jericho (sort of a dream version) has improved as in Driv3r, they didn't really see eye to eye, literally meaning they barely met or fought each other. After I completed the game I was really happy with the story and I realize I underestimated it at the beginning of the game.

Animations and graphics

The animations of the movements of the cars is great and provides a realistic experience in which you can change from a third person view to 3 first person views. As he is in a coma, the graphics have an orangish lighting which isn't as good as the start of the game or when you complete the game where it's more colourful but this lighting does not affect the experience of the game, it's not a major problem and the cimematic scenes are amazing.

Your still here? You must not be bored of my first review yet. :)

Soundtrack

The game doesn't actually use many of it's own musics. Most of the time during main missions there's nothing especially when things start to go crazy to add to the eeriness but many times it uses classical Driver music in the non-ability missions.

However it does use plenty of musics outside of gaming and as you progress, more musics become available for the radio. Isn't that nice. :D Many do fit in with the theme with the game especially in the final mission... anything more could be spoilers. It will depend on your overall taste in the songs. I thought some were good and it was nice to listen to them while driving around San Francisco. Some I weren't bothered much about.

Multiplayer

This is where the dynamo kicks in where there are so many multiplayer modes. 19 in fact and they include free for all, team and racing matches. Modes such as trailblazer are incredibly fun and most times hilarious because of players hitting each other all the time and there can be many close calls... and sometimes in tag, it's a very far score.

However there are some issues as the camera is very laggy at times and sometimes the loading times to the next round can be glitched so they're very slow and once it didn't load for me at all so I had to quit but on most occasions it will load fine.

Plus I have run in to a few players getting annoyed especially in tag. A lot of them yelling, "Vroom! Vroooom!" Just to let you know, these players should not hinder your experience of the game. :D

Overall

This is a really great game especially for gamers of all driving games. It's incredibly fun with the new shift ability, all new licensed cars included in the game, good graphics as well as nice multiplayer modes that will keep you occupied for a while and a compelling story. It has some bad points where the characters aren't like they were in the previous games so it's not gonna please all Driver fans and there are a few lag issues with the multiplayer. For me, the story felt silly to go in to at first but it gets better and I'm still having a great time completing the stunt dares and buying everything in the game.

So I give this game a...

9.0

So there you have it. :)

What do you think of my first review? Do you think I should write more? Anything to improve?

If you've played the game, do you agree or disagree? If you haven't played the game, what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for reading. :)

Assassin's Creed crossovers

$
0
0

This is something I thought about writing in July but I never had the chance. Here's just a few of some franchises that would be cool if they had a crossover with Assassin's Creed.

Uncharted

Both series are about history but Uncharted is more about learning more about history in the present day... or is that Assassin's Creed too? Anyway I think it would be cool if Drake was abducted by Abstergo and forced to relive the life of an assassin ancestor during World War 2 who journeys to the island from the first game to find the lost fabled treasure of El Dorado as well Francis Drake. Possibly even go as far back as the times when the first descendant species were created. Possibly we could see some descendant co-op survival. Screw zombies!!!

Although we could always make Drake the main character and have another National Treasure on our hands. :(

This or Uncharted 4?

Since the Uncharted story isn't really going anywhere, I would take this over Uncharted 4 any day unless Naughty Dog made some improvements to the storyline. Although a lot of it would have to take place in the modern day so it might not be the game for some AC fans. I would prefer an Uncharted kart racing more than these 2 games though. ;)

Infamous

Infamous Creed ;)

Well we all saw him at the Assassin's Creed 3 E3 trailer. See look...

So this is Cole Macgrath a.k.a Electric Man who for some reason was not seen using any of his powers in the trailer.

Spoiler Ahead!!!

Maybe this is a sign we could play a younger version of Kessler with the hood he wears. Maybe Infamous 3 is already hinted at.

Spoiler Finish!!!

Also the First Sons (Shadowy organisation like the Templars) were accused of being witches in Medieval Europe and the game could show the transition of how they moved to the Americas. Cole probably wouldn't even need an animus at all. He has some physic powers too so I guess he could get another upgrade and use it to see his ancestor. Since the First Sons researches in to superpower it won't be long until the Templars become involved in order to take power and possibly become their enemy.  Some ancestors could stay behind. You know to get an autograph off Altair or something.

This or Infamous 3?

A lot of people are unsure whether the series should even continue because of the ending of Infamous 2. They could make a kessler prequel instead or have this game set in between the events of Infamous 1 and 2 fighting the remnants of the First Sons like in the comics but what I think personally is that there are plenty of ways of creating an Infamous 3 possibly without the backlash of other Infamous fans so I would go with the Infamous 3 option.

However if they were able to make a compelling story with possibly a Beast plotline then I would say "Go for it!" and maybe new powers because it would be difficult to use electric superpowers in the 12 century... unless the character had really powerful electrical abilities and could summon lightening storms to regenerate himself. We can only dream...

Killzone

This is pretty much already been hinted at just like Infamous. :D As you can see...

This game would be much different compared to the previous games. Why? The whole game would be set in the future so I'm not sure if many people will enjoy it as much as the previous AC games. Even if it did have an ancestor,  it will probably be one in a historical era that's completely made up.

This or Killzone 4?

There would be a difference between these games as this crossover would be about a Capture Trooper fighting the ISA and possibly the Helghast too. The gameplay would also have to be changed for this game as it would include no permanent weapons. The Capture Troopers you see in Killzone 3 are agile and fast like Assassins are and use hidden blades and air assassinations. This may raise a few eyebrows as to where they got this from. Of course this is the future so these future assassins would be able to run right in to battle without losing a scratch.

As I said, Assassins on the Helghast side. Let me just explain. The Assassins could be controlled (Well most of them could be) and the only one to stop them is one of their own organisation who turns to the ISA for help or maybe goes freelancer and tries to free the brainwashed Assassins.

It would be nice to be on the Capture Trooper side for once because they were frustrating by many to take down and they had a funny noise. We would also have an AC game in Spaaace!!!

File:Space Assassin.jpg

Tomb Raider

Like Uncharted,  Lara stumbles on a pre-modern animus in Japan and has to relive the life of one of her assassins. Now a lot of you are going to be yelling at me for a Japanese assassin. You won't be able to play Dinosaurs though which may disappoint you.

This or Tomb Raider 2?

Truth be told I haven't actually played any of the games apart from the PS1 demo where I was running around a mansion and I was stuck in a cave with a Tiger and had no idea where to go. I was only about 5 at the time so you can't blame me for not knowing what to do. However I do know that it does take place worldwide in many areas throughout the series. I would probably pick TR2 because a Japanese setting is likely in the AC series anyway. Plus if we went with a crossover there would be no Dinosaurs. :(

Call of Duty, Battlefield or Medal of Honor

Many of these FPS games have been criticized for lack of adding anything new especially the first one or releasing overpriced DLC. This could all change with a crossover. Sledgehammer Games is a company focusing on a new Call of Duty action-adventure game (If you can believe me) which could be what the COD franchise needs.

This or sequel?

I think that an AC game would fit in well in to the modern era in years such as the 1980s because of the ridiculas amount of conspiracies at the time. It would also improve the FPS game storylining.

Now the gameplay would still be first person but you would have a massive range of weapons and upgrades with hidden blades, daggers, sleeper darts etc. Of course there would be a higher emphasis on the stealth but with the Frostbite 2 engine the whole game would make running desperately past bullets in a hoodie much more realistic.

Usually the game's will take a few 6 hours to complete. With this crossover you could be able to run around in open world, if you were feeling bored, you could organize battles to take over territories and if you won you would have plenty of tanks and aircraft to use.

Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell

This is a very likely scenario to make a crossover because all these series use stealth as their main gameplay elements. The storyline would be difficult because an MGS game is always very important for the series. I don't think Kojima would approve of this game either.

Would you like some Snake with your Fisher. :D

This or sequels?

I have no doubt that the crossover would be amazing if done right as MGS is a goldmine for conspiracy stuff however I think that the sequels should go ahead before this since the series are doing so great so far and a crossover could screw things up.

Why did I write this blog?

I was writing this blog because I like Assassin's Creed, yes :D but it's also at the fact that there have been very few video game crossovers in storylines these days. Ever remember the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon crossovers. I was hoping for something similar with Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter which also became some of my favourite franchises.

This could have been an amazing crossover but all we got was Playstation Moves which received negative feedback and wasn't even developed by Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games. Now it seems too late. Naughty Dog seemed to have lost their touch with storylining as seen in Uncharted (However their stand alone games could be pretty good) and Insomniac Games have now become indoctrinated by EA. These are not good times.

As many of you know (possibly not :D ) that Assassin's Creed is one of my favourite series and that a crossover with another series would be awesome. It may be risky with some franchises like MGS where it's best to leave them alone but with ones like Uncharted, it could become part of a different storyline. It couldn't hurt and if it's a great game then we could get lots of more crossovers. Most wanted crossover is probably the Metal Gear: Chain of Hearts game. :D

So after writing for ages... and now I can't save for some reason so I can't write a Mass Effect crossover. :( What do you think of this? Do you think there should be more crossovers? Are there some franchises that shouldn't have crossovers and other that would be awesome to have crossovers? What crossovers would you like?

Thanks for reading. :)

Hey!!! You might be expecting some funny vids. You're not wrong but I'd just like to talk to you about some things I'm going to write about in the future.

Lately I've been writing a couple of next gen blogs and I hope to write more soon. The next ones I'll write about are going to be my thoughts and opinions about the consoles and the good and bad things about them.

There's also this new storyline I'd like to write called Templar's Greed. It is a prequel to you guessed it, Assassin's Creed and I will say what new gameplay features it could add and why I think the settings are a good idea. At the moment it's to be a 3 part series but if I get positive feedback, I'll happily write more to the series. I'd like to ask you IGNers what setting you would like to see. :) Don't worry if your settings not chosen because I could always write more to the series.

I'm hoping to write a couple of blogs I've been meaning to write for a while which includes my storyline for Infamous 3 and some list blogs like most likely ways Humanity may become extinct.

After my exams I have work experience in June for 2 weeks!!! It's meant to be based on a topic we're studying. I'm interested in Geology... but I did that last year. Whatever I choose hopefully after I will write blogs about the games I have played, my most favourite summers and winters and my time on IGN. Of course these would be way too much for one blog so they will have to be split in to several.

I'm going to write many more blogs but this just gives you a rough idea of what your in for from my blogs.

So enough of that. Lets watch some funny stuff. :D

Mass Defect

Dead Ringers

House of Commons

American Minus (Like always his videos contain strong offensive language)

Thank you to all my followers that made this blog possible and those who have read this blog! Stay tuned for more Assassin's Creed, funny stuff, Infamous... you get the idea.

Thanks for reading and watching. Hope you enjoyed! :)

Templar's Greed

$
0
0

This is the start of a new Assassin's Creed series I'm making that takes place as a prequel during the 1960s, Cold War era and a new modern day protagonist called Claire who is part of the (you guessed it) Templar order. The first game's historical setting would take place just years before the Mayan Civilization collapse.

Just before I talk about the story I've written, I would like to say how this setting could work and what new gameplay features it could add.

Gameplay

The gameplay would be much more realistic since it would be on next gen consoles which also includes improved lighting textures and sound affects. Like Altair and Connor, he will have to regenerate and medicine can't be used. With the new Eagle vision, the ancestor can follow friendly, enemy and civilian trails. He can also predict where enemies will go however this loses more synchronization so that it's not too easy. He can plot paths for the player's best choice to go such as stealth, climbing trees and rooftops ect. A big change in the series would be the ability to have a difficulty setting ranging from Novice to Assassins and finally Master Assassin.

Weapons

The weapons you would be able to use would range from hidden blades, spears and collection of knives and other weapons. You would also be able to collect sharp objects from the ground to use as a weapon or use to upgrade your weaponry by sharpening the spears etc. This gives the ancestor a scavenger trait and perception.

Notoriety

The notoriety system would be different as there would still be people talking about Akuluk (The ancestor) but they cannot be bribed or reasoned with. Instead you would have to use the good old hidden blade or poison. Also after completing side missions and saving civilians, you will be able to envoke more people to fight against the Chief's soldiers which takes the mind of them attacking Akuluk in which he becomes... what you could say invisible. Just like an Assassin should be. :D

Economy

The economy would be similar to AC3 where you can hunt animals and trade for more advanced weapons and using a new system called "hope". Basically people will have more faith in you protecting their lives and families and the more points you have the more people will start rioting, hunting and in turn giving you more points... after 20 minutes of course.  With the next gen technology you will be able to see how the entire environment changes.

Exploration

Exploration of the game will reach a whole new level in the franchise. Not only would you be able to have a more vibrant and dangerous new version of the Frontier (Due to traps and animals) but with enough hope points, you could have the ability to create villages and forts where battles can be won and lost. There wouldn't be loading times between villages and the Frontier. Instead when you move outside a village, you will pass through a portal that can take you miles across the landscape. Overall the Frontier and settlements outside the Frontier aren't exactly connected. The seas will be traversable via small boats which adds a new sort of Frontier in a way. So many islands both large and small, both teaming with life and those which are desolate can be completely explored with a large number of side missions which range from discovering the secrets of a tomb and hunting down a dangerous animal.

So now prepare yourselves for a long story.

Story

Modern

After an Assassin group is discovered somewhere in the UK countryside, Claire and a few other Templars go to investigate the site. They find a strange ancient site in which they discover it's a trap which leads in to a dual between the Assassins and Templars where the Assassins have the upper hand. All the Templars are killed apart from Claire who is knocked out after hitting a device half encased within the soil.

Historical

She wakes up in the Animus world of one of her ancestors in the Mayan era. She is forced to relive the life of Akuluk who lives a peaceful life with his family and friends. This does not however last very long. One time in his childhood, him and his best friend decided to walk in to the jungles and create a den. His friend goes missing while looking for fire wood and he desperately searches for him. Seconds later, he hears screams of his friend and rushes to help him where he finds that his friend is about to be murdered by one of the chief's servants. Akuluk wants to save his friend but hesitates out of fear. He watches through the trees still trying to piece together how to stop them but it is too late and he is forced to watch his best friend die right in front of him. This affects him severely and becomes a main theme throughout the story.

Akuluk suddenly becomes distant from his family and friends, creating tools throughout his life, killing all trespassers that try to enter his territory right until he's about 25 in 900AD where he decides to face finally face the Maya civilization. He walks through the streets until he hears The Chief shouting to the crowd about the tests of manhood beneath a Mayan temple. Tests challenging strength, intelligence and agility. As far no one has survived these tests but if someone was to, they would achieve to access to the Gods while the people who don't will never be able to access them. Akuluk volunteers to face these tests in order to somehow bring his best friend back.

These tests are extreamly dark in which he must use Eagle Vision to find the ways to open the doors. As he progresses he must fend off different dangerous animals such as Tigers and Tarantulers (Sorry for those with arachnophobia). When he reaches the end, he discovers a Piece of Eden which looks strange to him in both comprehension and design.

He doesn't understand it so he takes it with him back out of the entrance. There he has to face the Chief soldiers whom he easily takes down. The Chief tells him all he wanted is the POE (Piece of Eden) in which Akuluk refuses as an artifact possibly made by the Gods could be potentially dangerous and bring disastrous consequences if he simply handed it over but the Chief has something else up his sleeve. As long as Akuluk holds the POE, the sacrifices will continue. This becomes a big deal for the main character since he wishes for peace but has no other choice what to do due to the destruction and secrets the device the device could bring.

Claire hears the conversations in the outside world during the loading times where the Assassins are questioning each other whether to kill her or question her if she ever wakes up. However not even them understand what's going on with the Animus.

This returns back to Akuluk who starts seeing visions from the Piece of Eden which gives him inspiration to use an Assassin hood. As the game progresses, the amount of sacrifices begins to soar so he decides to help out and prevent civilians from being taken. Among these includes a character that Akuluk recruits who's appearance, gender and weapons can be up to your decision. This gives the game more RPG elements and also a personal character that Akuluk can talk to about his past and his inability to save his best friend.

Modern

Claire wakes up from the pre-modern Animus but of course this isn't gonna go nicely. She meets 3 characters: Clarkson who is one of the fastest Assassins where he also doesn't want to necessarily kill Claire, Melanie who is one of the stealthiest Assassins where she doesn't think as nicely as Clarkson, both in their late 20's - early 30's and finally Jack who was a veteran in World War 2 and also the strongest out of the Assassin group. He doesn't believe a word Claire says because of his experience with the Templars in World War 2. Not only that but he is even threatening to kill her or inform one of the Assassin bases. She refuses to answer any questions about the Templar order but she talks to them about what is happening to her within the Animus. She goes in to training to see if her skills remain intact. They realize that she is improved significantly since they last fought against her and she begins to know more about the characters. However, still seeing her as a threat Jack decides to walk out of the group.

Historical

She returns back to the Animus over time learning the POE's secrets through Akuluk. He finally learns that the Chief is actually part of an order who wants to use the POE's power to destroy Humanity so there is true peace for other species and that there is a war taking place in the Eurasia continent between Assassins and Templars.

He confronts the chief at a temple where he is guarded by an armoured soldier who fights Akuluk and his customisable character. The character kills assassinates the Chief but is killed by the armoured figure. This is an almost impossible task since he just sees another friends die and the figure is too strong but he manages to break parts of it with different fighting techniques.

He takes off the guard's helmet and finds his best friend that he thought was killed, alive. His best friend tells him that he doesn't know him. This both upsets and conzuses Akuluk but he realizes that his best friend will never be the same and knows that he will use his sadness as a weakness so he forcefully kills his best friend.

With his suffering continuing, an entrance appears in which Akuluk he finds a First Civilization pedestal and Juno appearing before him in a chamber room. She talks to him about what will happen in 2012 and that the POE helped the Mayans design the Mayan calender in order to survive The POE was hidden away from the order that wants to destroy Humanity and the armour that his best friend used is a another POE. She gives him coordinates to a location that corresponds to the Pyramids in Egypt and instructs that he needs to touch the pedestal so that she will save the world from the Solar Flare. Akuluk refuses questioning why she didn't help him throughout his life or any of the crumbling civilization around him.. She replies with the usual "It's impossible to save everyone and that it will never be enough" but Akuluk still disagrees suggesting that he can change that. As he starts to leave, Juno's final speech to persuade him is "You will not achieve the Assassins goal, what you fight for." Akuluk turns his head and replies "Who said I was fighting for the Assassins?" He walks out with a smirk on his face while Juno becomes enraged.

Without a proper leader in control, fights begin to occur around the civilization and Akuluk begins to travel out of the Americas with both POE's with his fate remaining unknown.

Modern

Claire wakes up and is about to tell the full story when an army of Templars bombard the group and the 2 Assassins are taken to Abstergo. Claire however, is brought back with them and is treated by the Templars.

Too be continued...

Why I used this setting

So after that long writing, I wanted to set the game during the Maya civilization because of the fact that it is... well... perfect for an Assassin's Creed game since it has so much importance with the Mayan calender and 2012 storyline. It would also be amazing to see how ancient civilizations would play out in an AC game.

You may not this if but AC2 was originally meant to be set in the Maya. I won't go in to much detail about it since I've made numerous blogs about it but the main reason why it was changed to Italian Renaissance with Charismatic Ezio was the fact that it wouldn't have been much of an improvement from the first game because of the lack of famous landmarks and people.

I was also inspired by a film called "Apocalypto" where I've only seen some of the film but I what I saw, it gave a Mayan perspective on the their religon and ways of life. Mainly the sacrifices and the fear for their families.

File:Apocalypto-poster01.jpg

They're is also no current reason how and why the Maya Civilization collapsed. Whether it was the changing climate, pressure on resources, wars or even all of them linked together. So I thought this would be a great way to tie it in with the AC storyline.

The reason why I used a female main character is because of the fact there is few in the modern day that have used the Animus and it would be more interesting like how Subject 16 and Daniel Cross had some great storylines.

I know that this isn't any of the settings you were requesting for in my last blog but personally I think it's a great way to start my new series but I will definitely be using requested settings in the next entries of the series. :)

So overall what do you think of this series so far? Do you think a Maya setting would be a good setting for the series and what do you think or the new gameplay features?

Thanks for reading. :)

Update blog: 74GB console Crisis!!!

This is a small blog about what happened to me yesterday so it's not gonna be in much detail but it might be worth a read. :) Enjoy!!!

So I'm still not taking a liking to the new PS Store. It's really slow and our internet connection has gone from fast to very slow. The reason's confusing. Since it's too icy to travel to stores with extreamly low prices on games, I have to download a lot of demos. This is presents a problem. The PS3 I use is a 74GB console so I can't use too much data. It's a fatty :D where I can create an internal PS1 and PS2 memory card but it can't play PS2 games which is strange.

Anyways I came across a few demos I wanted to download which were mainly ones that I haven't played for a while such as Rally, Skateboarding and Motorbiking. The first of these was Dirt: Showdown. I played Colin Mcrae Rally 04 which I really enjoyed and this new game was supposed to take a different turn on the franchise. Like Motorstorm: Pacific Rift's main menu where there are lots of atmosphere of the audience. Just as I was going to download, it said I don't have enough space to download the game.

Colin McRae Rally 04

I made my way to delete some update data and decided to delete Resistance 3 because I don't play much of the MP since I need a pass. It's the only game I know that doesn't let you use a network pass on the the same PS3 but different account. I've deleted Resistance 3 before and it always becomes corrupted data. The same thing happened to me again. I traveled to the PS Store and tried downloading it again. Not enough data so I moved on.

I played a lot of Uncharted 3 when we pre-ordered it but ever since I made my new account, I've barely played so I decided to delete that. I returned to the PS Store in another attempt to download the demo. Not enough data so I moved on... Again!!!

The next update data for a game I decided to delete was Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. I love the game but I haven't played it for a while and after all it's just update data, not my saved files and I don't need to download it again since the MP's not essential. I made my return to the PS Store with a lot of hope ready.

Lets see the results...

Not Enough Data!!!

There was plenty of data left on my PS3. I had about 2400 MB left and the demo was about 1400MB. This is just an example of what I was thinking. :D

My next stop for deleting data was Mass Effect 3 which I don't know why I still have it. I didn't enjoy the game. I returned back and now...

Downloading...

So after a while it worked and of course for a demo, most of the stuff was locked out but for the amount of data I deleted, it wasn't worth it. I liked the graphics, boosts and the points you get for bashing other vehicles but I only got to play one race and use one car. I'm sure the game's awesome but I don't think I should deleted so much data for a small demo.

I wanted to download Tony Hawk's: Proving Ground but Not Enough Data!!!

I would have to delete much more which was not what I wanted. Shame. I've played the PS1 and PS2 games of most of the Tony Hawk games and even if this game did get mixed reviews, it would be worth the try.

I could only play a game around 1000 MB or less so I downloaded MUD which is a motorbike racing game where you perform stunts in many locations. The graphics were ok and it felt decent since I enjoyed the music and well... I like motorbike games. This game was only 500 MB and I got to play in more races and use more modes compared to the previous demo.

Overall even with all the data chaos, I have decided to include these games as potential buys for 2013 but of course I'm gonna have to be careful at the amount of data it takes up.

Plus I can't download games friends have recommended me like DMC, Ni Nu Kuni... I even wanted to download Killzone 3 since my Killzone HD Collection present from Christmas has gone Missing!!!

My head however has remained intact.

So what do you think of this update blog? Do you think I should write more?

Thanks for reading. :)

What was your first open world game (If any)?

$

I'm a huge fan of open world games. I love many linear games too but open world games give you an amazing sense of freedom that you can do whatever you want.

For many, the first open world game (Can be called a sandbox) they played was Grand Theft Auto and it has had a big impact on people because it's why they like it so much. For me, it was a totally different direction. That's right! My first sandbox game wasn't GTA but it was...

Now the open world part of the game was separated from the main storyline so that in this new free roam section, you could use any car you wanted... assuming you played the storyline to get the vehicles... I used cheats because I was only about 5 at the time.

There were only 2 cities you could explore but for PS1 game, they were pretty big and eventually they lead in to like a big circle so that there is no exit out of the cities. These 2 cities were...

London

The Italian Job PS1 Rom

and Turin

The single player had about 8 missions in each city however there was another area in the storyline which was The Alps with 2 missions. Basically driving minis while on the motorway in to a lorry and another where you drive a bus through The Alps which leads in to that cliffhanger ending (Literally). These are the 2 last missions in the game. It tends to get funny at some parts when the guy starts laughing for some reason and also I enjoyed the British voices and performances in the game.

As you can see in the pics, you were always on a timer in any mission. There would be a reason like "We're late and we only have 3 minutes left. Get a move On!" At times, this game also reminded me of the Driver demo I played which now has become some one of my favourite franchises and they also had similarities as you couldn't exit your vehicle since it was focused on driving.

Unfortunately this game became prone to scratches which was a nightmare for gamers in the PS1 - PS2 eras. Ultimately the free roam sections would have the loading sections never stop. Tapes spinning round circles over and over again. Eventually it became even worse. When I started the game, not only did the loading times never stop but the tapes completely froze... as if it was the end. :(

So overall I loved driving around the cities and this has not only got me to take a liking to sandbox games but also games mostly based on just driving.

This was a very short blog of mine but there will be many more detailed blogs coming soon. Stay tuned. :D

It's really difficult for Assassins to be in the spotlight! Good thing I'm not one.  (Looks around nervously)

Modern - JophieLS

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for nominating for the spotlight and the awesome people on MyIGN who I talk to.

If you don't know me, I usually make blogs about Assassin's Creed, next gen consoles etc. Basically a lot of stuff about gaming and other stuff e.g personal blogs. In the future there will be many more next gen blogs... and Assassin's Creed of course but I'm gonna make some new ones like games I'm getting this year and why I think they could be good buys and in the summer, I'm going to write a lot of personal blogs because I'll have a lot of free time to write them. :)

For people who are new and familiar with, I tend to use funny vids and cool wallpapers at times so here's just a couple. Enjoy! :D

Templar's Greed 2

$

0

This is the anticipated sequel you've been waiting for. This will continue the Templar's Greed series I've written, the modern day story of Claire and introduce a new ancestor and setting.

Story

Modern Day

Claire is guided out of the truck and taken to the Templar HQ in the area. She enters the leader's office and is rewarded to Master Templar for her attempts with helping the order. She gives him details of what had happened during her time in the Animus and the Templar master fears that they have discovered the weapon that help them win the war... or ultimately fail.

Historical

She is advised that she rests and they will recover the technology at the site. She sleeps and begins to see visions of Akuluk's encounter with Juno. This skips over to Akuluk sailing across the Atlantic ocean during a lightening storm. He wakes up in a sunny yet unknown area to him. He uses the Piece of Eden to navigate where he is. The map shocks him that he has traveled a great feet and ended in Boa Vista.

Modern

She wakes up and is informed that the Animus has been recovered. The Templars wish to analyse it before use but Claire insists that she uses it immediately.

Historical

She once again enters the world of the Animus and it is beyond the Templars control to pick an ancestor. She begins to relive the life of Vinicius who lives his life in a remote area on the borders of Spain and Portugal, far from civilization in Portugal between the years of 1644-1668 and where he was born to a wealthy father named Gabriel and an unknown mother. He's always curious to see what's in a box he keeps from his son. One day he finds it. However his father always says to open it when the time's right.

In 1644 when he's about 14, his life his changed when his home is raided by Spanish spies. His father is taken away and ultimately finds the choice of having to open the box seeing it as the best opportunity and finds a Piece of Eden. At first he doesn't understand it but this distresses the spies causing them to run away but he can't find his father leaving him homeless and distraught. He follows them across the countryside but even with his endurance and determination to find the truth, he falls out of breath leaving him unconscious.

He wakes up in a house where a black hooded figure explains that he has been taken to Ciudad Rodrigo (Cathedral city in Western Spain) and that he will train Vinicius to several ways of several orders including stealth, endurance, etc. Vinicius demands to have the POE back but the hooded figure simply says it's part of the training. Throughout these training sections, he begins to understand how to live in the environment, pickpocket but eventually the trainings become more severe and he has to fight the hooded figure at many times.

Ciudad Rodrigo

Once after he defeats the hooded figure, he says that the POE is the final training section he must complete and also the most dangerous. He gives Vinicius a choice where he accepts. The hooded figure holds up the POE and Vinicius becomes enveloped in a strange world seeing 4 symbols. All explaining a story of Humans surviving against the control of a race before them and the artifacts left behind (POEs) forming 2 factions. One that wants to get rid of all artifacts to protect Humanity's free will who are known as the Assassins and the other using the devices to control Humanity who are known as the Templars. This war seemed eternal and was preventing Humans from evolving morally or any other species evolving so another faction was born to destroy Humanity with or without the POEs as they believe Humans will always be the same. These are simply known as the Destroyers.  These 3 factions have been in power for thousands of years but there is foreshadowing of even more factions and ideas being created because of the existence of these devices. Vinicius then has to face many tests within his mind including the use of Eagle Vision and many fights between a member of each of these orders. Each faction wears different clothing to symbolise who they fight for. The Assassins wear hoods, Templars, a Templar cross, and the Destroyers wear a large amount of armour with a skull as a mask. All of these have an impact on shaping the World. He is able to resist the POEs power where the hooded figure says that he has the power to change everything and that Lisbon holds the key for the future. The hooded figure disappears with the POE.

Not knowing who the hooded figure was or even if he was part of these factions or even a new one, he decided to fulfill what to do and begins his travels to Lisbon not even understanding whether he will even see his father again.

Modern Day

Claire is pulled out of the Animus and the scientists say they don't know what's causing these fluctuations within the Animus. They are then informed of an lone Assassin in New York in London. When she arrives there, she has to tail a hooded figure through crowds and in to a skyscraper where she refused to have access to so she must climb the building. She finds him at some points through the windows running up the stairs. She finds the room where he arrives with a group of other people discussing so she uses Eagle Vision to listen through the glass on the conversation.

They start arguing about leaving the Assassins there with the Templar. She realizes it's Jack. The Assassin defends himself saying there was a lack of communication and that they made their choice. She breaks the glass and the whole building goes in to a high alert stage. She's able to knife many by surprise where Jack orders them to leave the room. She is almost able to kill him but them she starts receiving painful head aches and starts seeing symbols. Jack breaks her so she rushes out in to a chase, unable to fight. She jumps off the stairs to another floor to try and lose him. After a number of times of close calls and running, she finally performs a leap of faith... in to a dust bin, losing Jack. She calls for transport and classifying the mission as a partial failure.

Historical

When she arrives, she receives medical attention but her masters start questioning why she was able to stop the Assassin. She starts getting shouted at after feeling light headed and falls unconscious. She sees visions of Akuluk on the island of Boa Vista where he walks through across the barren wasteland and a discovers a small deserted village where he falls through a crack in the ground leading to a hollow room where he has the chance to hides the POE but even as Claire sees, she doesn't know what his true goal is. He decides to hid the Apple of Eden but keeps the armour. He looks back seeing that the entrance he came through is blocked so he makes his way further using Eagle Vision to see and uses numerous ways of fire and explosives to blast through hollow walls. Eventually he reaches a cave entrance overlooking the sea with ships approaching. He slides his way down the hill and waits for the ships to reach the deserted island.

File:Curral Velho, Cape Verde.jpg

Claire begins to hear voices and she realizes she's being put back in to the Animus where the visions change to things more vivid and relives Vinicius still on his travels to a town in Portugal called Covilha where he is told by a native to the village that the easiest way past the mountains known as Serra de Estrela is through them. He makes way past these mountains with her guiding the way. However a snow storm hits and they almost kllled by falling off a cliff. They make there way past and asks if she would like to join him to Lisbon. She tells him that there is a war going on between Portugal and Spain so she needs to stay behind and protect her people if they are ever invaded but she gives him 2 devices. One which is a hidden blade and another is a hidden shield which is a small version of a shield that can easily be attached on the wrist to block attacks such as swords and guns.

Serra da Estrela

He finally arrives in Lisbon where he grabs the attention of Assassins after pickpocketing in the area. They ask him to join them due to his skills but he says he will remain a friend of the Assassins, not a member because he doesn't want to take part in the eternal war. With this he begins to learn more about the war between Portugal and Spain which is known as the Portuguese Restoration war and what the orders are doing behind the scenes. The Templars are trying to encourage the war so that they will have no choice but to be controlled by a POE... assuming they find a POE. The Destroyers on the other hand want to find the POE and somehow detonate it to annihilate all the Humans in the area.

This skips to many battles throughout the war like sieges on the town of Elvas in the 1650s when Vinicius is in his mid 20s to early 30s where he discovers that the Templars and Destroyers are working together in order to find the POEs. Vinicius doesn't necessarily pick a side as he uses stealth to listen in on conversations on both sides to get the information he wants remaining neutral but most of the time he works to maintain soverienity for Portugal so he can find these 2 other orders more quickly and hopefully find what happened to his father. He works with members such as Antonio Luis de Menses and Portuguese monarchs to infiltrate Spanish borders where he also gains support from countries such as England and France.

Modern

Claire is brought out of the Animus on an alert of an Assassin signal however the master refuses that she goes and it's best to keep looking in to what the Animus is showing.

Historical

She returns to Vinicius during the 1660s in his mid 30s to early 40s when the war is becoming more extreme. After fighting more and more of these battles, he doesn't know where this is going and whether he will see his father again. He decides to return to Cuidad Rodrigo in hopes of finding something that could help and maybe find the hooded figure again which would give him even more answers. On the way to Serra de Estrela, he finds a Destroyer that engages him in a fight. They become both injured where the Destroyer says that that he can't stop him and runs away not to be seen again.

For Vinicius, this becomes a change of plan and travels back to Portugal in hopes of stopping this enemy. He is joined by many of his Assassin recruits and Portuguese troops where he infiltrates Spanish defences in order to get to the masked villain. He finds the enemy in the heart of the war zone where all Vinicius's training comes down this. The Destroyer however becomes much more stronger than he realized and his armour now almost impenetrable. He states that he admires his courage and determination but there's no hope for him. Much to his surprise, he spares him and throws him in to the battlefield below. A soldier spots him and is ready to behead him. Vinicius too injured to do anything notices that something has appeared from his wrist. His amazement was that it was an apple of eden and uses it to save himself and cause the Spanish troops to retreat.

File:Acclamation of King John IV of Portugal.jpg

When he returns, he finds it easier to explain the story of these 3 orders and the POE to Antonio behind the Assassins backs. He seems intrigued and sees another purpose for it. Since there have been so many losses of lives and resources, he wants to see if the POEs power could be used to crate an infinite supply of energy. With this in mind, he sees the danger of this enemy on the Spanish side and decides to provide full support in another attack. Vinicius orders them to make a diversion as he goes around to take down the armoured enemy. After numerous explosions he finally reaches behind the Spanish side of the war but he doesn't find the armoured enemy he was looking for. Instead the group of Assassins that tell him that they know what he's done and that they need to either make Antonio an ally of the Assassins or he will tell the world of the eternal war. Vinicius doesn't see the problem of this so the Assassins attempt to assassinate him but Vinicius proves to powerful and is forced to kill them all. He apologises for what he has done but think he has done the right thing. With the war in the Portuguese favour, he returns back to Lisbon and gives the Assassin group a burial.

Modern

Claire is woken up with her arm still hurting badly but she is requested to go on a mission to a small town where a few Templars went missing. When she arrives, she hides in vegetation in order to get to these punching noises where an interrogation is being taken place. She finds Jack being the one responsible and where Jack sees her and throws her against the wall attempting to kill her but he pauses and tells her that she's working for sick minded people and that she hopes doesn't become like them. He leaves the house and Claire doesn't understand why he didn't kill her.

She abandons the mission and lies about the mission being a success. She decides to meet with Clarkson and Melanie where they are happy to see her but just in the short amount of time she's been away from them, their appearance seems pale and they can't talk straight. She becomes both upset and angry at the fact that she is working for the people who did this to them.

Historical

She faints and sees the life of Akuluk again climbing on to the naval vessel but he is hit from behind and is incapacitated. The travelers scout the island where they bring back the apple of eden. On the journey across the seas, he breaks away and burns the ship down. The travelers start jumping off the ship as he searches desperately for the POE. He decides he has no choice and kills all the travelers. He finds the last one swimming away but just about Akuluk is about to knife him, a wave loses his view of the traveler with the waves getting even worse. He reaches a coastline and becomes angry at the loss of the apple but he decides to wear the armour in order to protect him. She wakes up goes back in to the Animus in hopes that she will find some answers to the orders to this eternal war.

In 1668 after the Treaty of Lisbon is signed, Vinicius returns back to his journey across Serra de Estrela. He becomes lost in a snowstorm and falls through a crack in the snow. The Destroyer jumps in to the crack but before he can attack, Vinicius takes out the POE and uses it to break the impenetrable armour which incapacitates The Destroyer for a short while. he finds a skeleton lying on the ground and looks to see on the bracelet "Gabriel". Vinicius doesn't believe it's his actual father but he is proven wrong when The Destroyer takes off the rest of his armour and reveals himself as Akuluk. He explains that he killed his father when Akuluk was looking for the POE. He made him believe he had the POE but he was just saying that to protect his son. He tells him that he knows more about the POEs power than Vinicius realizes and explains that the father he saw was an illusion used to raise him up and the hooded figure which represented stopping the eternal war was used to set an array of events by Juno. Vinicius basically crumbles mentally and begins to crazy at this thought. In this insanity, he aims to kill Akuluk but he he stops him and knifes him in the right leg so not to kill him. Vinicius becomes unconscious and he wakes up in a village where he is treated but realizes his lower right leg had to be amputated in which he now has a wooden leg. He is joined by Antonio who requests to find the POE where Vinicius simply says he's lost it. With a sudden change of character, Antonio turns on him stating that it must be used to harvest the energy from warfare which is essential for his new order. He leaves Vinicius alone never to be seen again.

Modern

Claire is alerted of a widespread break in of the facility of the Assassins. She is guided by the master out of the room where she sees a black hooded figure killing all the people she can see. With this advantage she realizes that she can make it right and breaks Clarkson and Melanie out of their chambers. Jack turns up to face the master where Claire is given a choice and kills the master. They leave in a van while the conflict is continuing with the hooded figure after them. They make it out just in time driving to an unknown destination however Claire starts seeing symbols and different times in history where she faints and the Assassins rush to help her.

To be continued...

Character

So if you're still here after that long piece of writing I just wrote, Vinicius is a character who feels he has a purpose and wants to use anything to fulfill that but he also tends to around a bit like Ezio did. This gives him leverage to develop friendships more quickly and can change his tone to more serious if he needs to.

Gameplay

This will add a lot more gameplay features just like the previous. The Eagle Vision is much more adapted and can even predict where enemies will go or attack so that he can avoid being invaded during a battle. Also during the battles, the new engine will be able to create a new experience so that they can run right in to a battle with thousands of soldiers and run right through the battle especially during a chase scene and kill any in front of him. Hope ability will return where as you complete side missions, you can gain support and more Assassin recruits which can have an impact on the environment but now you will also be able to create better equipment and manufactures for weapons will become more experienced.

Weapons

The weapons you would be able to use would range from a different number hidden blades, swords and guns as well as some handy devices such as the hidden shield. As you progress through the game you will be to sharpen weapons more efficiently but you will also be able to use more modifications to weapons such as poisons and acids to any weapon you want and the higher hope system, the higher the experience of the weapon manufacturers.

Notoriety

Similar to the previous games where you can take down posters and bribe heralds but it will become much more realistic as if you kill a guard without being spotted, this won't be added to the notoriety.

Economy

The hope ability allows you to build more shops and defences but there is also an economic system as well as you can use the income to buy more ships from the British or French so that you can receive better upgrades for naval vessels and also weapons and gadget upgrades will be on for sale. :)

Exploration

The open world naval missions will return with even more expanse from Cape Verde islands all the way to Brazil however it will be slightly different as instead of having one big open world, since the distances are so big for the game, a collection of islands will be represented as a new open world experience. As move further away, it will teleport you across the seas to the next archipelago or country. Of course you would have to help in building the army so that you can take over these territories or defeat pirates. The cities and towns you would be able to visit in the game would range from Portuguese to Spanish like Ciudad Rodrigo, the snowy landscape of Serra de Estrela, the streets of Lisbon and Madrid.

Weather

The weather effects would range from massive differences. From sunny, clear skies to foggy landscapes. From dust storms to blizzards and lightening storms. As the seasons change, there will many things to watch out for such as floods and avalanches.

Why I chose this setting

Originally I was gonna set this storyline in the Viking era however I started wanting to set the storylines in eras that people wanted to see and Portugal was the first thing I came across. Also I've been to Portugal before. I'd probably have to make an entire blog to explain most of it but despite having to go with another family that we liked but then we hated on the trip because they wanted us to do everything they wanted and an angry dog, one of those that act like bodyguards like you see in the movies with chains as collars we went past everytime on our walks, I enjoyed the holiday and it would be great if we did get a game set in Portugal.

So what do you think of the storyline so far? Do you think Portugal's a good setting for the game?

Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed. :)

What survival modes would you like?

So I haven't written a blog for a while now. Almost a Week!!! So to start the new month (No I didn't get pinch, punches), I've decided to write one of the blog ideas I had in July. :)

At the topic at hand, there are many games that I think should have some sort of survival co-op. Zombies in Black Ops seems to be one of the few survivals without Humans as enemies. Even though I thought it got boring and repetitive very quickly, there seems to be many games taking inspiration from it like Mass Effect.

So some survival modes that I would like to see in current franchises are:

Battlefield: Dinosaur

This has been a rumour going around for a while because of the easter eggs (not literally) in the MP modes.

When the developers were asked whether this was for a new Dinosaur mode, they replied with something like, "We haven't actually planned for any mode so far but if a lot of people are talking about it, we'll think about it."

Could this be a possible mode for Battlefield 4? If it is, don't get so exited just yet. There are issues that could interfere with the quality, mainly EA and also the fact that Battlefield 4 is meant to be released sometime this year.

Battlefield 3 Dinosaur Mode 1440x900

However, if they took their time with their time with the mode, then it could be awesome. Just think of small Dinosaurs running in packs and then the next round you get a T-Rex where not even a jet can take them down.

Battlefield 3 Dinosaur

Surprisingly, on youtube there is still talk about this mode and they even went to the effort of making a fam-made video. Some of you might find this funny, some might be amazed. For me it was a bit of both. It was a bit funny seeing them for the first time but it started becoming more and more awesome. This is just what a Dinosaur mode might be like if it did come in to existence.

Personally I would want them to make this mode since I've loved the Dinosaur subject since I was 7 but of course take their time. We might get this mode in Battlefield 6 or Battlefield: Dinosaur Hunter in a few years but hey, then it will be top-notch.

The next one may interest CODers.

Modern Warfare: Ghost

When I was playing the zombies mode in Black Ops, I was wondering whether they would do another mode maybe for the Modern Warfare series. Modern Warfare seems to have it's own 'Special Ops' mode where you fight off enemy soldier so I'm not sure whether they will make another mode especially with a supernatural feel although it would be fun since there's a character named Ghost or maybe Ghost could even be one of the playable characters especially if the next game's a prequel on Ghost (the character). I'm not sure how you will be able to defeat these ghosts but I'm sure they'll come up with something simple.

Ghost faces iPad background

Uncharted: Descendant

It's been a while since we've been able to fight against the mutant zombie things, whatever you want to call them but this mode would be amazing in a new Uncharted game. We've had those fire spirits in the survival co-op. Why not this? Maybe it could have a story too and you have to fight out of an underground maze or area similar to the first game. The longer you stay, the more enemies will pile through.

Owned

Sorry for the small pic. One of the few I could find.

Resistance: Chimera

The Chimera would be perfect for a survival game. Why? Well there's so many strains of the species which range from military Hybrids to mindless Feral. From technology like the Goliath to the monstrous Kraken. There is also a terrible truth of Resistance 3 that you may not have known... if was the first game to introduce network passes. :(

Still liking the PS3 exclusive missions so far? Well that takes us on to...

Killzone: Helghast

The Helghast would be awesome in a survival co-op. Not only are there many forms and technology like the Chimera but the Helghast literally sell the series. Who wouldn't want to fight against these space nazis especially if we get to use a jetpack like in Killzone 3.

Killzone 3 Screenshots, Mech Level

This image is similar to the Resistance 3 Goliath pic, except this mech is bigger and looks more like a microwave oven. :D

Mass Effect: Reaper

Like I said before, Mass Effect already has it's own survival mode which includes Cerberus, Geth and Reaper troops but we never seem to have had an actual Reaper survival in the game. The survival multiplayer has really pushed back the Mass Effect single player experience (in my opinion) which is why when they do make more multiplayer (and they will because of EA) then this should be put MP at the bottom of the list to add to the game. We're not sure where and when the next ME game or whether they will even keep the Reapers in the story but overall, the Reapers are a far too big enemy to miss out on the opportunity.

The survival would be great since you would have to fend yourself from Reaper troops, get past all the rays and finally find a way of stopping the Reapers and even with just one, it will be difficult if not impossible to take down. If it takes place during another cycle, this mode would be perfect and would no doubt be a mode that would be played by so many gamers rather than just the less than 10 people playing the ME3 mode just for 3 months... just to unlock 1 weapon!!! Hopefully we won't have to do that in this survival mode.

Wallpaper mass effect 3, art, reaper attack, art, attack the reapers, earth

Infamous: Bit of everything

Like Mass Effect 3, they could split this up in to several different enemy waves which for Infamous's case would be, Reapers, Dust men, First Sons, Conduits... there's a lot to choose from. Plus each of these different factions have their own Conduits. Maybe they could include some stronger enemies to fight to like the leaders of the factions including Kessler, Sasha, etc.

First sons

and last but not least...

Assassin's Creed: First Civilization

I hope you weren't thinking I wouldn't include this. :D Winding the Animus clocks back to the beginning, this mode would take place during the First Civilization so players would have to use stealth in order to stop the FC from arriving and indoctrinating the characters by the use of Piece of Edens.

So there you have it. Do you agree with these? What games would you like to see become in to the hands of survival co-op?

Thanks for reading. :)

Infamous fan cast

That's right! There is a film adaptation of the awesome electrical superpowered PS3 games called... Infamous in the works. However don't get your hopes up just yet. The guy who said he will make an adaptation also said he would make several other films like Uncharted like 6 years ago and sometimes they're cancelled.

Even if there isn't a film in development, there could always be a film cast right? So I decided to make a list of who should play the characters.

Character - Cole Macgrath

Cole Macgrath is the main character and after a bomb explosion after delivering a package, his life is changed when he discovers he has electric powers and decides whether he will be Empire City's saviour or it's destroyer.

Actor - Sam Worthington

Why? Well not only does he look very similar to the electric wielding Cole Macgrath but also he is a good actor who has been able to make some terrible films slightly better such as Avatar. Jason Statham would be a close second but I think he's too old to play Cole and I haven't seen much of his films... I know there's one called Transporter? :D

Character - Zeke "Jebidah" Dunbah

Zeke is Cole's best friend and seems to want superpowers himself and hates the FBI and most government agencies as well as being a supporter of The TV Jacker for a short while. However like Cole, his personality changes throughout the game.

Actor - Andy Kindler

Andy Kindler Picture

Remember only his mama calls him Jebidah! Same as Sam, he looks  similar the character's part. I'm not sure why but a lot of people have had trouble finding an actor that looks like Zeke so they just said people like Alec Bana for some reason. If you don't know who Andy Kindler is, watch some Everybody loves Raymond. Awesome series. :)

Character - Trish Dailey

Trish Dailey

Trish is Cole's girlfriend however she becomes distant from Cole believing he was responsible for the bomb attack. Cole's decisions will affect what she thinks of Cole in the end.

Actress - Keira knightely

She has played strong roles which will be able to reflect on his choices throughout the game. I'm not sure what path Cole would choose in the film but it's possible it could be a bit of both good and evil choices and consequences.

Character - Moya Jones

Moya Jones

Moya is an FBI agent so she is much hated by Zeke. She guides Cole in bringing the ray sphere which caused the entire events of the game. In return, Cole will be allowed out of the city.

Actress - Shohreh Aghdashloo

Shohreh Aghdashloo Picture

We didn't actually see Moya in game. Apart from the comic book sequences, her voices from the phone were pretty much the closest thing to communicating with the character but she looks similar and some Mass Effect people will go crazy. She played one of the people in the helmets.

Character - John White

John2

John is a mysterious guy that disappeared during an effort to find the ray sphere. However he leaves dead drops which are used messages to communicate to people what has happened to him.

Actor - Don Cheadle

This guy has played many secret people who have worked with the government plus he looks like John so I don't see why he wouldn't play as him in an Infamous film. Maybe it's because I've seen only 2 Don films. :P

Character - Sasha

Sasha-Defeated

Sasha is someone who worked with the First Sons with a power secrete a tar that is used as mind control on civilians and harming energy on conduits. However , she had a falling out with the organisation and after the blast, she became the leader of The Reapers.

Actress - Helena Bonham Carter

Reason being is that she tends to play a lot of creppy and dark roles like in Harry Potter and some other films (mostly Tim Burton) which is perfect for the role.

Character - Alden Tate

Alden Tate

Alden Tate was the leader of the First Sons who has the power of telekinesis (Moving objects around with the mind and stuff) before Kessler took the throne and became homeless and started an uprising of the Dust Men after the Empire City blast becoming the leader of this new gang.

Actor - Ben Kingsley or Tobin Bell

I'm actually conflicted with this one since these 2 great actors both look similar and would match the roles. Ben Kingsley would be great at the vengeance attitude toward Kessler whereas Tobin Bell would be able to take on a crazed performance.

Character - Kessler

Kessler is the main villain of the game and is also the only villian with a health meter... just to point out. He is responsible for the game's events and the leader of the First Sons in which he has a highly powerful conduit.

Actor - Robert Caryle or Willem Dafoe

One in the middle of the pic BTW.

I had some trouble with this one. A lot of people have said that Bruce Willis could easily play this character but I think it should go to someone else such as Robert Caryle who's played as Hitler and a James Bond villain and sometimes good characters like in the awesome Stargate Universe series... that got cancelled :( but mostly evil characters or Willem Dafoe like where he played the Green Goblin in Spider - Man (the one in 2002). Both of which have played determined roles before so this will be a like a walk in the park for them but there are a few other actors that could fit to the character's role like Hugh Laurie, Jeremy Irons and Liam Neeson. Overall I think Kessler's role would have a big range of actors to choose from which makes it both easy to find actors but difficult to choose.

SPOILERS START!!!

Maybe even Cole's actor but with a voice over.

SPOILERS FINISH!!!

On to the final character...

Character: Voice of Survival or TV Jacker (whatever you want to call him)

An anarchist who gives people advice on how to survive during the blast although Zeke's attitude of him quickly turns when he starts accusing Cole of being a terrorist.

Actor: Brandon T. Jackson

I can see his rapping style changing to a confident villain if he was to play the character although I'm not sure how well The Voice of Survival character would be played out in an Infamous film since he is mostly heard to suit the open world experience of the game but I'm sure they'll include him somehow on the TV's on Zeke's rooftop.

I'm sure that many more people could play these characters but these are just the main actors and actresses I can see easily fitting the roles of the characters.

So there you have it. Do you agree with these suggestions? What actors and actresses would you like playing them?

Thanks for reading. :)

Thoughts on next-gen consoles

$

With the likely announcement of the next Playstation on February 20th, rumours of what it will bring are going sky high. The next-gen hasn't even arrived yet... well it sort of has if you count the handhelds but that doesn't stop the bombardment of numerous speculation. So today I'd like to talk about what I think will happen in the next-gen of video game consoles.

Release date

A lot of people are saying 2013 is the time for the neXBOX, Django... whatever it's called and that the the next Playstation, Orbis... will not be far behind in possibly Spring 2014. If this is true, then I think that neXBOX release date will be a mistake. Why? Well for starters you have so many games for this current gen like Watch Dogs and GTA5 so people won't have the time to buy any new consoles with so many gamers saving their money. 2014 seems to have as of yet unannounced titles which are likely to be next gen so I think a January release would be perfect. There is also the potential of current gen consoles and the fact that it may be using the same format where the next Playstation will use Blu-Ray like the PS3 did, may give people less of a reason to buy the next console too quickly. Plus, even though it may have the same format, you may not be play games of the previous console series... unless games are mostly downloadable.

Although don't threat if you wish to buy consoles this year. There is still the PS Vita, 3DS and Wii U that seem to be picking up speed but overall this year I think will be the dawn of the smaller consoles e.g Ouya and Steambox. The phone, tablet and smartTV markets seem to be catching up to the video game markets which is starting to raise some competition. So to combat all of these markets, these new, smaller consoles will have smaller games where many like the Nvivdia Project Shield (the one where the DVD player and the Xbox controller have been morphed together) will even allow PC games to be downloaded with a maximum of 720p HD.

This does sound interesting especially with the Ouya which will only be $99 on release with free games so indie gamers can try out new stuff but for those who don't like low quality graphics, this might not be for you. Some like Nvidia's console have been announced to be around $700 and we don't really know what many of the games will be so as of now. We will have to wait until E3 2013. I think it's great new companies are trying out some new stuff for a change since I really enjoyed the PS1 demos I had even though the graphics at the time weren't so good but it is an unknown. It could go well and maybe even put Sony and Microsoft out of the video game business, the small consoles may be able to get it's own fanbase to just compete with the bigger consoles or it could be a complete disaster and the bigger consoles will simply brush them aside. We just have to wait and see...

Format and price

This is where some companies can steal the show. Considering that the next Playstation and Xbox will likely have Blu-Ray except with some sort of ultra HD, so the price will be something less than $250 - 400 maybe depending where you buy it from. Although as always, the graphical potential will be limited compared to PCs and if the games look similar to the best looking games of today, that could spell disaster for the consoles.

Features

There will be of course more involvement with social gaming and online but there are many features that I think should be ideal for these consoles. For a while I've wanted to record moments in games so I can share awesome and funny videos and photos with other gamers and friends online but there are times where you need the same game to watch them, patches could erase them (I'm looking at you Uncharted 3) and sometimes they don't upload to youtube for some reason like Just Cause 2. There are rumours of a Playstation feature to allow you to record the last 15 minutes automatically of any game which does sound like things are going well and we'll likely see hear about more or even see footage of it on February 20th.

Another feature that would fit with socialising would be being able to see what your friends are doing in games live. Of course if you let them join that is. Just think of 10 people just watching 2 people play a match. It sounds fun to me. :D

There should be more connectivity to sites like Facebook, Twitter and of course IGN :) but maybe it could be easier on PSN to follow games, films, anything you want to get the latest news on things you want to hear about nowadays just like any other social site. Maybe we could just wait for the MyIGN console. :D That's a blog I might write next.

A cinema mode where you can watch films with friends online and talk to each other while watching them could bring about piracy and less people will bother buying or streaming movies but like LOVEFiLM or Netflix, maybe let gamers pay a subscription or something.

Ever since I played my first open world games on the PS2, I wondered whether there would be a game where you could travel the entire world but with the new hardware, maybe we could do that as a console feature. Pick like a gameplay feature like Gran Turismo or Just Cause or a game feature from any game you've got and go anywhere in the world which could be in this case, racing or just blowing stuff up.

So there you have it. What are your thoughts on next gen?

Thanks for reading. :)

MyIGN Console

Yes, the MyIGN console. A console developed by MyIGN users to compete with all the other consoles out there. Just think for a moment that we had enough money to make a new console with it's own exclusive games and features, what ones would you make?

Games

Here's just a few game ideas that I think should be made on the system.

Dinosaur game

Lost Legends

The Dinosaur genre has seemed to have died down for a while after games like the reboot of Turok. Personally I think that this genre needs to be revived quickly. Ever since I was 6 years old, I've been interested in loads of things to do with Dinosaurs. This game however would be different from the Dinosaur hunter games you get with Humans as the main characters. This would be set entirely million of years ago and has nothing to do with Humans at all. No hunters. No time travelers. Instead you would be able to play many Dinosaurs from small, flying, Marine and the big beasts like the T-Rex. All with different stories in an attempt of survival for small dinosaurs from natural disasters, starvation and other creatures and conflict for the Centrosaurus and the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Players may interpret the story in different ways since it's not exactly a spoon fed story. :P For many it will be looking out for their families, for others it will be a struggle to survive.

Why do I think this a good idea. Well for starters it would prevent it from becoming a dumbed down genre like Zombies and it could amp up the long lost Dinosaur genre before it's lost forever.

Wallpaper, dinosaur, siege, landscape, science, staticfiles, shared, content, images

This is what a Centrosaurus looks like.

Polar Shift game

Remains

This is an actual theory where the Earth's axis could tilt causing complete chaos and in just a few days, the entire face of landscapes and climates would become very different. Although I should probably talk about that some other time. In this game, a father loses his daughter to a kidnapper for unknown reasons and just about when he is about to stop him, the whole world is changed. Despite the destruction, he is one of the very few to survive although this is not over. Far from it. There are many other things he has to cope with like earthquakes, Tsunamis, severe weather, landscapes breaking apart and what happens after all of this over? There's not gonna be enough food for all the survivors... if there are any which will cause resentment and conflict forcing civilization to crumble and adapt to this new world. However despite all this chaos, he is still focusing on finding his daughter and the kidnapper.

Throughout the game, the main character sees the past via flashbacks which shows how much the natural world and society have changed but it also shows that he is not the good guy everyone thinks he is where the story also links in to a lot of mystery with prophecies dating to the disaster from days to centuries before the worldwide disaster.

I decided to talk about this because I don't think there are many games based on disasters so I thought it would be cool if a game was actually made especially with a great story.

Design your warfare game

Evolution

This game lets you customize warfare more than any other game yet. Create your own factions, start your own wars and organize the way you want to take over territories such as stealth, missiles as diversions, etc. The weapons would be given huge amounts of upgrades where you use weapons that have bullets blazed in fire, cryo weapons even plasma weapons (high energies found in stars). As you progress, the soldiers you play as become much stronger to a point where you are no longer a proper Human due to the armour and implants as well as amping up weapons from simple bullet weapons to energy weapons that can change the climate but then again so does the enemies that you haven't fought against yet and are merely bidding their time for a surprise attack on your bases.

The reason for this is that a lot of the FPS games haven't added much gameplay except for a few. The premise of the story would be about securing own territories during World War 3 that seems inevitable for Humanity's extinction. It doesn't necessarily have a story per say since you are creating it yourself which allows more freedom but there will be cutscenes where you gain or lose forces.

Creating your maps game

Creatrix

This game wouldn't just be about creating your own world but also testing out things you wouldn't be able to do like creating a tornado by a volcano to create a lava tornado or bring an asteroid in to the ocean to see how far the landscape is flooded. You would be able to create your own species, decide what their behaviour which can orchestrate from peaceful traditions to catastrophic wars but the one of the most important things is that you can accelerate further in to the future to see how things change for the species you've created. Maybe even create an apocalyptic dateline and see if they can solve it before it's too late. Just one thing you use as a feature of personality or disaster will factor how catastrophic it will be, who will survive, will they learn from their mistakes, will they fly in to the stars or will they even create a disaster themselves e.g cybernetic revolt, synthetic disease.

These are just a few ideas for games that I would want on this console as examples to be different and an improvement to other games but it will also bring back some games that were lost after the PS1 and PS2 like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Croc, Gex, Hogs of War, sequels that we never got like Tony Hawk's Underground 3 and Star Wars: Battlefront 3 and expanding franchises like Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter with many games and spin-offs to appeal to different audiences. Most of which to become MyIGN exclusives including Templar's Greed. :D

Again these are just a few but if you want me to talk more about the games I've mentioned or new ones I haven't told you about, I will happily be able to explain in new blogs. Plus I will talk about the franchises of the PS1 and PS2 later. :)

Features

So we've had some exclusives that may interest people in the console. Now lets go on to the features. Now exclusives are sometimes the main reason why people will buy a certain console in the first place but this console is going to add a lot of socializing and offline features more than other consoles.

So first of all, you wouldn't need to buy any avatars, you can just copy an paste images in which you can also gain connectivity to IGN and the MyIGN community with the avatars you using there as well and if there the player or friends don't allow privacy, then you can view their wallpapers, videos etc.

You would be able to see what other players are doing (again if they allow it) and there will be quick messaging between games and movies where you just have to press a single button to bring up a small chat room in the corner so you don't spoil the gameplay or movie. :)

As I said, you would be able to watch movies too which could lead to a lot of piracy so in order to do this, you would have to subscribe to a MyIGN console service in which you have to pay a small fee to let players watch the movies you're watching. Although we have over 1000 movies at our house so the small fee would be like a steal.

So since this console is based on games and features that MyIGNers want, what games and features would you like to see on this new console?

Thanks for reading. :)

Spin-off games that would be cool

$
0
0

There have been many spin-offs over the years, some good, some bad so overall spin-offs have been received with mixed responses. Many criticized for attempting to gain as much money as possible but could that change? I mean the idea of spin-offs sounds awesome but of course they would have to be given to the right developers so it doesn't become a disaster with the new Star Wars: Old Republic film. :D

But what is a spin-off? Well it is a form of media derived from a franchise. For example, a main character in one series will have it's own movie, game, etc on their own story not necessarily linked with the main story since it could be their own personal story.

So I've thought for a while whether there would be any spin-off from blockbuster games? I mean, so many of them have vast universes where many players are interested in the lore... but can never experience what those events were like.

So here's just a couple of series and characters that should have their own spin-offs:

Uncharted - Harry Flynn

Ever since the first scenes of Nathan Drake and Harry Flynn teaming up in a mission impossible... mission, I thought whether they would design a prequel of their first encounters with becoming treasure hunters. Maybe with a whole array of treasure hunter characters and something disastrous happens. Maybe even for Uncharted 3 although that boat's sailed. When I first met Sully, I thought Nate and Sully were some kind of treasure hunter partners in a secret organisation.

FlynnDartguns

I think that it should look towards Drake's past but darker compared to the previous games. There has even been prequel comics about Nate and Flynn trying to find treasures for their clients. Although it doesn't exactly explain the full story about how they met, just another mission so the next game could be full of rich and varied treasure hunters. Maybe they could even get their own spin-offs. Of course Sully will be in the game, maybe not Elena but Sully of course. It wouldn't really be called an Uncharted game without him.

Killzone - Colonel Radec

This character is one of the most favourited villains throughout the Killzone series. A vicious ISA killer of the and an expert with cloaking makes him one for his own spin-off but what would it be about? Well maybe we don't have to start with Colonel Radec for starters and play the game as an ISA invisibility unit member attempting to infiltrate the Helghast forces. However during the game, he is left alone and turns towards the Helghast where he becomes one of the most experienced ISA soldiers to their worst enemy.

It's not new that so many Killzone fans have wanted a Helghast campaign and since the Helghast are one of the reasons how this game series has sold so well, it wouldn't be a bad place to start a new series. Plus in the Killzone: Shadow Fall gameplay trailers, there were Helghan soldiers with invisibility cloaks and I'm not talking Harry Potter Wengardium Leviosa stuff but futuristic cloaking when one of the soldiers was changing his disguise back to one of the Helghast. Could the next Killzone even have Colonel Radec back or are the Helghast trying to imitate their former master remains a question unanswered. I mean with a Crysis storywriter I wouldn't be surprised if they were setting themselves for a crazy story.

Infamous - Kessler

One of my favourite villains of all time. However the character I am about to talk about has spoilers for the Infamous series so I'd suggest to scroll down the list to the next character if you don't want to see SPOILERS.

Kessler is a high powered conduit who has all of Cole's electric powers except stronger and much more. The fact of the Infamous 2 ending has led us to believe that Sucker Punch will go down the route of a Kessler prequel set in the original timeline and even with a new Infamous game with a new character I still think that there will be a game about Kessler. Who knows maybe Infamous: Second Son is a Kessler prequel of some sort.

Just hear me out, there is no reason to believe that John White was the The Beast in the original timeline. Kessler has completely changed the timeline so anything could have happened. It's possible The Beast is just an entity that resides within Conduits who are at an Infamous state. The character that you do play could be the original Beast and gains his pyrokinetic (fire) powers gradually increasing with power and intensity since lets face it, Kessler gained his powers at a much slower rate and seems like he just coped with it without having to fight any enemies since the blast never happened in Empire City. He finally faces Kessler, defeats him and ultimately becomes erased from history.

Or it could just be another conduit after the Infamous 2... Infamous ending. Although I'm still gonna write another Infamous 3 blog so I guess that can wait til later.

Jak and Daxter - Krimson Guard

Jak and Daxter's Haven City has a lot to look upon. It has been thrashed many times from countless wars from the Metal-Heads, The Underground, Dark Makers and even it's own government. Ever since I completed Jak 2 and 3 a couple of years ago, I've always wondered whether there would be a game about the wars between the the Metal-Heads, Krimson Guard, Underground and maybe even the crimelords. All of which would take place prior the events of Jak 2 during the Metal Head Wars. When I thought of this, I thought of the Krimson Guard as closely resembling the Helghast from Killzone.

I have actually made a previous blog about future Jak and Daxter games. It's pretty old so there it's not as detailed as my latest blogs are but it might be worth a read if you're interested http://uk.ign.com/blogs/mikeerik/2012/06/07/jak-and-daxter-future-games. I will also talk about a Krimzon Guard spin-off blog soon so stay tuned. :D

So I've been talking about some of the villains but what about the heroes?

Ratchet and Clank - Great War

Another series that has seemed to have disappeared from the current gen consoles apart from a few. The universe is amazingly vast with a wide range of species, planets and characters. The way I see it, it is the equivalent to Star Wars and Mass Effect. There are no limits! However like I said before, there has been a few on the current gen consoles but after the first 3 games on the PS3, they seemed to be spiraling out of control, aiming for a younger audience but also losing it's routes of the series like the fact that you can't go to as many planets in the later games and that there's not much of a compelling story.

So I thought that a game during the Great War between the Lombaxes and Cragmites would be pretty cool since it would be based over a huge range of planets and space stations, awesome story and this is the part you'll like, it would be very much like a new Star Wars: Battlefront game... except for Ratchet and Clank.

Assassin's Creed - Abstergo subjects

The fact that we don't know anything about some of the Abstergo subjects makes it the better. We know a lot about Subject 16 and Daniel Cross but what about the others? Well it's liekly they suffered their own bleeding effects and explored very different ancestors. I doubt very much we will get a full game about Subject 16 and Daniel Cross since we already know the stories... but it could be something for the Assassin's Creed movie!!!

Although there could be spin-offs about some of the other assassins both modern and historical, templars from the multiplayer modes (especially the Priest!!!) and maybe the assassin recruits in AC3 and characters from the Homestead missions... and Leonardo! Again that's for another blog. :D

Mass Effect - Extinction cycle

Not only does Mass Effect have a vast, expansive universe but the characters you meet especially the squad members have interesting backrounds where you only seem to learn about them by talking to these characters and completing their loyalty missions but there still seems to be a huge history with all the characters and the loyalty missions just leaves you thinking what it was like for them. As well as what happens to the characters between the events of Mass Effect 2 and 3, these could all become their own games but that's not all. All these species have their own personal storylines and even random planets you'll find and N7 missions you'll complete, have the potential for entire series!!!

However there is one game that I would want above all others. Lots of people say set a game during the Prothean empire or even as far back as when the Reapers were born but I think there should be a game or maybe even a series set during a the first extinction cycle after the Reapers were born so that all life in the galaxy have no idea what is coming but the Reapers wouldn't be as powerful and Harbinger maybe the only Reaper. It could show how Harbinger is able to develop his indoctrination powers and how life in the galaxy came close to destroying him before continuing the cycles.

So like I said, this is just the start of many more spin-off blogs so stay tuned. :)

So what spin-off games would you like to see?

Thanks for reading. :)

Personal blog: Creative writing

Hey guys and gals! This is just a personal blog I'm going to write today since I've only made like one before. Too many Assassin's Creed blogs of course. :D This actually was meant to be about funny house of lords moments but they took a major vid away. :(

So just over 2 years ago in 2010 on the last english lesson until the christmas holidays (technically the last day before christmas holidays anyway because of snow), we had to come up with and write a story for an hour. This wasn't a proper exam. It was coursework so we wrote it in class except we couldn't talk to one another so still like an exam but you prepare more for it and it can help towards your final grade. My friends say I'm good at making up stories and writing them out plus at the fact that I was writing the start of a story during the summer holidays so I was pretty much amped up for the write up. It was a non-uniform day... and I actually remembered to bring in my non-uniform this time so awesome!

We had to sit away from other people and we were given a list of 5 words where we could use them for the titles. I used the word "Hero." I can't remember the names for the words since I just picked the first one that caught my eye. I didn't know what I would write about so I just improvised and started writing about a guy called Jack waking up in a hotel room. He walks out of his room and notices something wrong. A hooded figure running through the hallway... well it's strange in that neighborhood... and no I didn't intend for it to be anybody assassin like but I can understand that if you thought it might an assassin. :P

Modern - Odingraphics

Jack walked out of the hotel and saw the same guy trying to jump off a rooftop so he rushes to save him. He reaches the rooftop where he attempts to convince the guy from committing the biggest mistake of his life. Despite all his attempts, the guy calls Jack a hero but jumps. This is when I was really rushing the write up with only 5 minutes to spare. I was going to put that he ends up waking up on the ground in a pool of blood being the guy that actually jumped but I ran out of time. It was a twist I was meant to write but instead the teachers said "Time's up" and I wrote something silly like "He was the guy that fell off." lol. I don't think they knew what I was talking about.

However overall I got a C I think since I was in the lower set for some reason so the highest I could get was maybe a B. It was about sides 2 of A4 paper. I have small writing. The most I've written on a line of A4 paper without doing so on purpose was 28 words so I could write more if I actually tried.

I have much better stories but for something I mostly improvised since I didn't know what words I would get, I think I did ok.

Leading up to the events, we had to write a practice version and I think I picked one called "Ghost." I had about a week to complete it where I wrote it during my week off from school so I didn't have to rush anything. It was about a married couple were staying at a beach house in Miami where the main character wakes up in the middle of the night to find strange things like reflections of other people in the glass and whispers. This begins to become more clear where he can see ghosts who tell them to leave the house. He becomes overcrowded with ghosts that try to scare him off and all of a sudden, he is stabbed by his wife and he falls to the ground dead.

However that's not the end. He wakes up again and discovers his wife crying. He tries to comfort her but he realizes she is crying over his dead body. One of the ghosts tells him that the house causes one of the couples to go crazy and they were merely trying to save him by scaring him off. He becomes one of them and it's unknown whether they will ever be able to save anyone that arrives to the house. Although it would get pretty overcrowded. :D

Ghost faces iPad background

We also had a supply teacher that was wearing casual clothes so a jeans and these random radios on his T-shirt. I couldn't even look at the guy because I knew I'd burst out laughing. This is when we all had to wear uniform. I'll never forget the quote he said, "Right we're gonna watch a film. It's not much work is it?" i was thinking, "Well no. It's no work at all" :D He didn't know how to turn the computer on lol.

I don't normally write ghost stories. They're good and I enjoy adding eye openers to stories but I mostly stick with other genres like military and sci-fi. Just to let you know, this is over 2 years ago so my ideas have improved and become more developed since then. Also I don't really enjoy writing short stories as I can't really add everything I want.

So what do you think?

Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed and sorry if you were expecting more assassins but you might expect that in my next blog. :) Hint! Hint!

Assassin's Creed spin-offs

Assassin's Creed is a series that is able to use the potential for both modern and historical settings with a bit of futuristic. Not many series can do that. Within these hundreds of years, there have been many varied characters, whether Assassin or Templar, ally or enemy, badass or not-so-badass that have interesting backrounds. However the question remains. If there were to be games based on these characters, which ones should they be about?

Well that's just start off with a few from the main games.

Assassin's Creed

Malik

From the very first historical sequence, I will never forget the words "Wait. This one need not die." He was by Altair's side for a while but the events of capturing a Piece of Eden led to disaster with his brother killed, his left arm missing and a burning hatred towards Altair. This character was one of my favourites from the first game and he appeared to be absent from Assassin's Creed: Revelations which was a disappointment for me especially since he had such a big role in Altair' life and the codex.

However if a game about him was made, what would it be about? Well if I was making the game, I would set it a few years after the first game with Altair and Malik talking about their past lives which brings about his brother becoming a main character of the game throughout his childhood to where he is now. Most of the game would take place about how they rose through the assassin ranks along with Altair to Altair's downfall would be one of the last missions as Malik tries to fight Robert de Sable and his guards.

Al Mualim

The person that gave Altair the opportunity to become what he was. There seems to be a lot of foreshadowing surronding this guy. Not only has he fought over a thousand men, no one really knows what side he was on. He was clearly after the Piece of Eden but he betrayed the Assassin and Templar orders which just created even more conflict between the 2 orders.

When I first played the original Assassin's Creed game, it felt more biblicalish since there was so much emphasis on religion which is a key factor for the setting since it's set only a thousand years after Jesus Christ's birth so you can't help but feel part of some, how should I say, historical awe? If you have a better term, please let me know. :) However Al Mualim sees past this. He believes the whole world is based on the foundation of illusions and the only way of truly shaping the world, is with the Pieces of Eden. This game would explain a few of his mysteries that aren't explained in the game like did he know about the First Civilization. By the sound of what he said, it's probably unlikely and is he somehow still alive and Altair just killed another illusion. Who said illusions can be destroyed by fire?

Assassin's Creed 2

All assassins

It appears that the assassin influence spread and formed the characters of AC2 who they are. All of them with different backrounds but all arrive at one point where they are training up and guiding Ezio in their own way. Sure they could each have their own game but I think with all of the Italian leaders they could show how they cooperate and how factions creed came to exist. :D You could play as mercenaries courtesans and thieves and possibly many others e.g pirates. :)

Giovanni

An Ezio like character when he was younger but wise assassin in his later days. Apart from Lineage his full story is not told of his early years or days before the events of Lineage. He is still a feared enemy of the Borgia but we never really got to know this character very well.

What if...

This is an idea that Ezio fans will hate me for but what if instead of Giovanni, Frederico and Petrucio being executed Ezio, Clauida and Maria were. We didn't really get to know much about the 3 characters and it would be pretty cool to see how the world would be different with Frederico and Petrucio being trained as assassins to fight the Borgia. Maybe they go to different places or they are forced to fight the Borgia when Rodrigo has already risen to power.

There is another thing that Ezio fans will hate me for. What if Ezio got abducted by the Templars at an early age so he is trained and committed to their order so the Assassins would fall apart and ultimately Templars will gain their long fought victory once and for all... or will they? Also if you are interested in more what if games, don't hesitate to write in the comments. :)

Leonardo

Everyone's favourite character is back testing out his newest inventions that wasn't written in the history books. He helps a French assassin during King Louis XVI' reign. There was no Connor sequel based in the French Revolution which is a tragedy that must never happen again so if it was set a few hundred years after Leonardo's death, then maybe this new French assassin could find clues he left behind. Who knows? Maybe get a flying machine open world. I mean, Leonardo was one of the things that made AC2 so great. Revelations wasn't the same without him. ;(

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Borgia

Before you go crazy at me, let me just explain. The Borgia haven't exactly been the most favourited villains of the series... or out of many series themselves but this power hungry family seems to have risen to power with a thirst for the Pieces of Eden but also there are many forces that threaten them. One of the is the French. I'm not sure if any of you have seen The Borgia TV series. It doesn't have a statue of Ezio so there's nothing special but it shows weapons and battles that were not used or seen in any of the Ezio series. From what I saw, the Borgias were getting their asses kicked with flying chains launched from catapults tearing soldiers apart so they had to rely on the vindictive Lucrezia to negotiate with the French forces. However there were other enemy forces and those were within the Borgia family.

This game would be able to let you play many of the Borgia family members in their struggle for power but also a few assassins! Happy days. :) Completely new assassins who are apprentices to Ezio Auditore da Firenze himself, sent out to assess the conflict between the Borgia and the French and infiltrate their defences. The reason I did this is so the player would have an understanding of both sides.

But wait! There's more. There will also be another enemy to the assassins. Yes! Templar agents. The Borgia are not going to let this order spoil their plans so they will send their own unit of trained fighters, doctors... priests to hunt them down.

See! Priest is beast. :) He ends the video without a scratch. He'll get you the most kills and likely no deaths at all... but he still ends up second on the leaderboard. :(

Maybe all the multiplayer characters could get their own spin-offs too. I mean a lot of people preferred the Harlequin over Ezio. Don't know why. Just saying.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Yusif Tazim

One of the reasons that made this game slightly more enjoyable. A friendly rivalry with Ezio and introduced an awesome hookblade feature. What more could you ask for?Like many other characters, he wasn't seen much in the game apart from the start and small scenes throughout the game and since he's grown up with the hookblades, I wouldn't mind seeing more grappling in action!

Not the Ezio impostor on the right. :D

Assassin's Creed 3

Assassin and Homestead recruits

Although I didn't enjoy some of the side missions to gain these assassin recruits since they were mostly lackluster stuff like burning blankets and assassinating dogs, at the end of the day the recruits seemed like interesting characters. I mean I went to the taverns where they are mostly based and when I talked to them, they seemed to have interesting backrounds and stories plus what they say, hints on some games that are possible like where one character says he was the son of Haytham's assassination target which could take them to a British setting. It's not like having Britain as a setting for an AC game is new.

However I think that this could also be implemented with the people you've recruited for the Homestead. They have become a part of Connor's family. They have been met with mixed responses and most people looking over these missions so I think that maybe these characters could have much more of a personality. Maybe the homestead collapses from an invasion and they are forced to flee with a possible main character being one of the children that were born during or after AC3. You could also play as many of the other characters from AC3 who have different abilities and weapons like a strong guy with a hammer and someone who's more agile to climb tries and uses a crossbow (not referring to Connor).

Haytham

When a few players played AC3, they were scratching their heads thing "Why is he not the main character?" Due to his characteristics and British humour, I can't see why he's not getting his own game already.

However I think there is a way to include Connor within this story and that is with the Animus. Don't get confused. The Animus was not made by Humans but merely discovered and modernized to suit the Templars purposes. I can't see him without Connor in the story so maybe the person Haytham was talking to at the start of AC3 went to somewhere like France during the French revolution but Connor doesn't know this so he stumbles across a pre modern Animus which he uses to see his father's life and eventually Connor and the Templar go on a goose chase to Britain where he has to face a final battle in London.

Reminds me of Mickey Mouse. Don't ask.

Finally...

Achilles and Faulkner

One, an assassin that had become disconnected by the Templars power and tyranny. Another, a captain of a ship that sailed the high seas whether in the blistering sunny days of the Caribbean or the stormy raining days of the Atlantic that came to a close and was brought back to life during the events. They both ended at the Homestead. Why don't they make a game based Achilles assassin days or if he's already been demoted, he can travel on voyages across the Atlantic and beyond. There's already an AC game based on pirates and naval vessels but why not take it to places like Norway or the far North instead of heading South where all the pirates are.

So that's just a few of the spin-offs they could make. They could make many more games on the other characters. How about that guy that pushed me in to some guards in AC1. We never got to know what he was up to. :D

So what do you think of these spin-off ideas? Would you like other ones like Abstergo subjects, MMOs... the future?

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed. :)

Which blog shall I write next?

Hey guys and gals! I'm just writing this blog to tell you that I want to write more blogs, most definitely. Some with a familiar type. Some new and fresh (like my breath. :P ). However I'm just not sure what blog I should write first. I have many writing ambitions. Some blogs I have written over a week. Some I have written in a day and sometimes in the holidays, I've written 2 blogs. :) However now I'm having to study more so I won't have enough time to write long blogs. They may take over a week so I may have to write it over a few weeks.

So here's just a few of the types of blogs I would like to write about in the future.

MyIGN console 2 (yes it is popular enough to get it's new successor)

MyIGN console exclusive sequel games

MyIGN games (Basically I'll talk about the games that I mentioned in MyIGN console blog in more detail)

More ideas for MyIGN exclusive games

Spin-off blogs

Games I played on the PS1 and PS2 (a blog for each game)

My second review

Space stuff (If you don't like science, then you may still like these blogs because they're about end of the world and I'll try not to make it sound boring)

Conspiracies (Both serious and humourous)

What if blogs about series, game development and Human history

Wallpapers, funny vids and awesome GMVs (Gaming music videos)

Music I listen too (Like the above I may talk about these in more detail and what feelings it might bring)

Assassin's Creed

How I met Assassin's Creed (No! It's not a love story)

The gaming room I use (My camcorders not the best but I'll see how it goes)

Infamous 3

Tips on how to write a blog

Templar's Greed 3

Games I'm getting this year

So there you have it. Which ones do you think you'll find the most interesting?

Thanks for reading. If you have something to say, don't hesitate to write in the comments. :)

PS3 games I'm getting this year

This is a blog I've chosen to write since it's been on my mind for a while and I was meant to write it way back before the next Playstation announcement back on 20th February. 0_0 Well it's still not too late. I'm still gonna write it except this doesn't include games on other consoles e.g Ouya, Steambox and PS4. Those can wait for future blogs.

This is also the start of a series of blogs of the games I will (most likely) buy until the end of the year as my free time is becoming more and more limited. Yes I will talk Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flags soon too so brace yourselves. :P This is an experimental blog where I talk about past events I've had with the games, start using wallpapers and vids in proper blogs to catch up on all the absences for those blogs and also mentioning people (mostly on Playstation Network) who inspired me to buy the games. Please don't lash out at me if you are not mentioned. As I said, this is experimental so I've never mentioned anyone before and I will hopefully be able to mention everyone I know in future blogs. :)

There are many people making blogs about all the new cool games and to be honest with you, I've never really been one for the update and news stuff. I mean it's ok but I prefer other things and exploring more to the video game industry, series etc. Many have already talked about the games they want but I've decided to include a few more stuff you may have not have seen in other "Games I'm gonna buy" blogs which is also an opportunity to catch up on cool wallpapers since I'm starting to fall behind a bit on my wallpapers. Thank goodness not funny vids... oh wait. :(

So if you see any pics, feel free to use them and get your popcorn ready to enjoy the blog. :)

Now the blog at hand...

So 2013 is meant to be the PS3 going out with a bang year. Of course Sony will continue to support for the PS3 (we can only hope) but with the current gen at a close, there will be many awesome games. Some exclusive, some multiplatform and some I can get for £10. :)

So here's the list I would like to show you before you fall asleep.

We start off with...

Crysis 3

Backround

The Crysis series has it's unique feel of being superhuman... but at the cost of alerting aliens. Yes! Crysis lets you become the ultimate soldier with super strength, speeed and my personal favourite, invisibility in order to stop an extraterrestrial force. There are many tactical options available to you, however if there's one thing it's famous for, it would be the graphics. The graphics of the first game are stunning especially since it's only a 2007 game. However people started lashing out against Crysis 2 since the graphics were dumbed down for consoles so it begged the question whether this internal conflict would continue... We'll find out right after the break.

Click here for full size image

So Crysis 3 is looking at high hopes with the graphics mainly being aimed at PCs and if consoles are negatively affected. Well screw em. :P However I am not a PC fanboy, nor do I play games for the graphics... although I have to admit sometimes they're just too amazing!

Who inspired me to play the series in the first place?

My actual journey began 2 years ago with the first friend I had made online who was playing a game called Crysis 2. 0_0 His name was TOMPPIX. I'm saying "was" since he deleted me as he was selling his PS3 for a gaming PC. No he wasn't lying when he said since the latest trophies he had are still there after like 2 years. I can tell you that he would have fit in to MyIGN very well. It was in fact just the beta but at the time it was difficult to know people who didn't just play Call of Duty and FIFA. In fact this guy hates COD. For those of you who guessed it, he plays Battlefield.

Full pic

I decided to buy the game since I wasn't really buying anything but I didn't enjoy it much at the start since... I turned it straight on to hardest difficulty and barely used invisibility. I kept joining friends on Black Ops since that's the only similar game I had to them. However after messages from my friend asking me why I wasn't playing Crysis 2 anymore, I decided to go back to it, brushed the dust from the box and was ready for another go.

Then all of a sudden I understood the game. I got easy help from my friend and eventually beat his difficulty. The gameplay was fun with all the superhuman stuff whereas with the story, you had to wait for it to pick up after a few missions. The MP was annoying. Possibly the worst matches I've had. I'm usually the top or near the top of the leaderboard but even a 1 vs 1 match with my friend I barely got anywhere. I had like a kill and 9 deaths. The annoying part was when I fired like 40 shots at him and then he turns around and shoots me with a sniper with one shot. With other players it was even worse since there were so many campers. If you would like me to make blogs about my friend in the future please say in the comments. :)

Here's the whole list of wallpaper sizes

About Crysis 3

However for Crysis 3 it seems that despite the some of the glitches like massive guns taking up the screen it's not so bad since everyone seems to be moving around the area. I got like a 1.76 kill/death ratio just after one match since people wern't using the weapons that fired 1000 bullets a second but I sort of got in to a massive weapon glitch so I kept swapping weapons for a minute and something hit me from space. :(

Full pic

The story of the game is looking great, picking up from the events of Crysis 2 with an infused Prophet/Alkatraz with an environment that has morphed both Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 with lush rainforests to towering cities. This game will include characters and plot elements from the first game too as the stories between Crysis 1 and 2 sometimes feel like without the names for the characters or the name of the Nanosuit, you could easily call it something else.

This pic dwarfs this entire blog so I will only be able to show the link for it.

Fortunately this one doesn't. :)

So Crysis 3 is done and dusted. So what's next? Oh yes...

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Backround

Unlike Crysis, there isn't an awful lot I can say. I've never really been a true fan of the series even though I enjoy stealth games. I've seen my brother play the games a lot while I could only dream of having a PS2 at the time. About a year ago, he used LOVEFiLM to get the HD collection which I started playing but it wasn't exactly as awe inspiring as I thought it would be. I think it's because of the games that I played in my childhood, I would always prefer better and that is the same with many other gamers out there... plus in the game, I couldn't open a door. :D

I think this pic didn't work properly so here's a link

Who inspired me?

However my interest in the series has developed. Not long ago (I would say a few months) my friend Kaswa 101 started to become a youtuber so I never really saw him that much as I did when I was writing blogs for the first time. He seems to like the series much more than me since he made a video and over time his videos have become more and more impressive. I saw a gameplay video before which looked interesting but at the back of my mind I was thinking that it would be a game that I would watch some of the gameplay trailers and get exited for but in the end I never buy it because I start saving my money for something like DLC or a PS Vita... which I never bought. However when I saw Kaswa's (youtube name is Invasionering) I thought that the game looked really cool especially that the tone has become more serious with the White House under attack.

For one the music suits the style of the game and also I still don't see how Coldplay's Paradise song is more heard about than this.

Don't think this one worked either :(

About the game

This is the next addition for Sam Fisher. Although there have been criticisms like having the game set in the day with night vision goggles, "My eyes!" and the fact that the main character has a new voice actor. However, even though this has happened many times in video gaming like with Killzone and Assassin's Creed, he seems to have been a core part of the franchise which is why some fans have gone of the series... for now. So the story is about a unit called Third Echelon being closed down due to corruption so Sam Fisher must route out the terrorist leaders under a new Fourth Echelon.

Watch Dogs

Backround

An interesting yet surprising game revealed at E3 last year Watch Dogs reveal trailer seemed to have caught everyone by storm and is one of Ubisoft's most anticipated games. I remember I was waiting for E3 to start. However I thought it was at something like 2 o'clock in the morning since I live in the UK I knew it would be something late. I sent a message saying "E3 is looking great but we have to wait 4 hours." Then I got a message saying "It started 4 minutes ago." So there I was just in time for Assassins's Creed 3 and soon to be Watch Dogs.

Full pic

However the reason why it looked so great is because it is using next gen technology... for current gen consoles. It is for both PS3 and PS4 and Britain as well as the rest of Europe is meant to have a "delayed" release for the next Playstation. Ubisoft also said it would be for all consoles. Don't get your hopes up. It's not for PS2 or Gamecube. :(

Full pic

About the game

The game itself allows you take control of electric networks which essentially allows you to take control of the city which reminds me a lot like Infamous except instead of having electrical superpowers... you have a phone. Before the next Playstation announcement there was basically a trailer for this game and that's it. Ubisoft obviously wanted the game to be secretive until they would go full out with the game when the next gen starts. BTW when I'm referring to next gen I just mean for the PS4 not consoles like the 3DS.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

So this is where the drums roll in as people are witnessing the moment of my opinion on this new game but first of all we must pay a tribute to Connor as he may no longer be in future games. For all the Connor fans out there that are still staying strong (yes we do exist), we can only hope.

So we have all said our farewells, yes?

So the new game, they got the name wrong for a start. I thought it was going to be called Assassin's of the Caribbean. Ah well. Maybe they'll change it.  :P The Assassin's Creed has the ability to explore the entire history of Humanity which most games aren't given the chance to do. Maybe they could make a game in the Vikings, maybe even go the opposite way and send it to the future... how about Springfield?

Now it has the series being transported with a Pirate theme which I think sounds really cool since I loved the naval battles in AC3. I mean who didn't and the great thing about this game is that it didn't ditch the Kenway story with Connor's grandfather as the new lead, Edward Kenway who doesn't begin his journey another vengeance story or assassin. Instead he begins his journey after an exposure to the Assassin-Templar war, plus you can upgrade the vessel, not once, not twice but 50 times as well as being able to visit 50 locations. Although the details were pretty vague on the modern day story with a Templar who is a member of Abstergo Entertainment so that they can have a modern story for 2013 until the next modern day character arrives. That's we get for an annual release.

Full pic

My friend ZombEE-_- told me about the trailer early on Sunday when all of the slow coaches saw it on Tuesday. I didn't even need to pay a subscription. :D However after watching the trailer, I'm not exactly sure what to think. Over the years, AC has become more focused on combat where as most would rather see it head the other way. I myself wish for the series to go back to the feel of the first game and I actually preferred the Animus 1.0 as the sounds felt more futuristicy and it looked more complicated and difficult to understand it's system since there are random calculations and numbers that are more confusing than a day in a Chemistry class. 0_0

Full pic

The Animus versions later feel much more bland and they start to lean away from the stealth genre which is what Assassins are meant to be a part of. In fact with the Altair, he had a synchronization meter so he never actually got hit, drowned or got attacked by Templars with funny hats . If he did, it just meant... you're not as good as Altair. However with Ezio, he has a health meter and uses medicine to restore it so many Ezio fans even admit that Altair is the greatest Assassin who ever lived. Maybe he is still alive and the guy in Revelations was an impostor. Why else do you explain a guy that looks and sounds nothing like Altair. Lets just take another break and admire the next wallpaper...

Next wallpaper

This is the wallpaper I use for the PS3. :) The wallpapers from Fanpop never seem to show if you copy and paste. You can use it as a wallpaper, most definitely but it won't work if you try to attach the image to a PS3 message.

Back to the blog, this is not the only problem I have had with the announcement of this new game. I don't know but I think the pirate may have needed more work on for a few more years since I don't think it fits in fully with AC theme. The game may have actually been a completely new franchise but Ubisoft underestimated it, maybe due to Den Defense' performance and response so they just made it a small mode for AC3. Although just think if Den Defense got amazing reception. I know for most of you, this is blasphemy but we could have got some sort of Medieval England game where we would have to protect castles.

Full pic

That is also something that has reminded me. Ubisoft seems to just ditch anything that's not well received so they'll simply ditch the whole mode altogether rather than improve upon it. They got rid of awesome multiplayer modes such as manhunt and alliance just because they wanted to add in more deathmatch stuff to appeal to COD gamers who will only buy the first thing that has been advertised. There is also the fact that it is going back with an Ezio like character. Personally I thought Ezio was cool, I preferred Altair because he acted more stealthy but I liked the way they explored a different character and Ubisoft has the opportunity to give players varied characters with each very different backrounds however if this Ezio like character continues, all AC will be is an Ezio series which will start to make the series stale. I mean the Xbox is well known for being an Xbox machine but it still has many other popular franchises.

Full pic

However despite all this, I will still buy ACIV since I have been a fan of the series for about 3 years so I would like to see what it has to offer and I still see the series as delivering a great story since it is the start of a new series for the next gen consoles and much more platforming elements with settings you won't find anywhere else. However most likely I'll buy it for PS3 since I don't think you can matchmake between the PS3 and PS4 and most of my friends won't buy the PS4 anytime soon but also I may not go off MP entirely with the lack of modes because there may be co-op. :) Maybe even just running around MP like Just Cause 2... except with a fewer glitches... or more would be nice. ;)

So like I said, this is the start of a new blog series I'm making as well as many others so here are a few wallpapers, pics and clips that will tease what will be in the next "PS3 games I'm getting this year" blog. That is if you know what they are. :D

Where's the Support, Sony?

Last but not least. ;)

However due to the fact that there is much less free time for me, I may not be able to write as many blogs as before so I would like to ask you whether I should write long blogs like this one but over a period of a 2 weeks or more, would you like to see more funny vids, wallpapers and awesome fan made trailers or both?

I hope this blog makes up for the months away from funny vids, wallpapers, etc. However if you would like me to make my blogs more like this with all of them combined except with less inconsistency (less all over the place) or if you would like me to go back to the Stone Age, don't hesitate to write in the comments below. :)

For those of you who didn't faint at the sight of Crysis' graphics or if there's any of you who are becoming jealous and rageful for not mentioning you, here's a few funny vids that might cheer you up. :)

Impressions show: Jeremy Clarkson

Just Cause 2

House of Lords: ORDER!!! Order! Order.....

Generalminus: Montage (Crazyness escalates at 1:04)

Hope that has calmed the ragers down. :D

Any feedback and any comment would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed. :)
