Hey MyGNers! It's been a while since I've talked about the latest bit of info and a few of my thoughts on one of the most anticipated games of 2014 despite the fact that barely anything is known about the games to arrive in this particular year of next gen gaming. Although I did say I would inform MyIGN about the latest news about this game which also means this will bridge the gap between my next line of blogs so that you don't forget I exist. This blog overall will not be as long as my previous ones so you many not need many snacks for once but I may also talk about some things you may not have known about this latest installment for the the Superhero (or was it supervillain?) franchise. So enjoy!
Not only is the PS4 and next gen arriving pretty fast and sometimes it makes me wonder that it's only about a few weeks away until we see people hibernating outside of the video game stores. Although one game in particular for many Sony fans is the upcoming game of Infamous: Second Son which has been a long awaited game ever since the very first official talk about the PS4.
Now this isn't very new and this was announced ever since about Mid-October involving the brand new unveiling of the many editions of what you can choose when you buy the game. It is not like Assassin's Creed where you will get 5 different editions exclusive to certain stores and then made for the whole gaming community in about 3 months for the digital stores but in fact there will only be 2! So lets see what's on offer!
Special/Limited Edition
This is the special edition which is very likely to be the limited edition too, hopefully. I assume the limited edition is just more... limited? Well you may not get the Beanie Hat and notebook as you can see in the second pic.
Many games in the next gen will likely have much more engaging stories to tell in order to compete with their competitive counterparts and Infamous: Second Son doesn't seem like an exception. For one I believe we will see the upbringing of many characters especially considering if they're new and displayed over a vast timeline since it's previous games such as the latest Killzone: Shadow Fall... which could have 30 years of backstory to tell.
This seems to be no different for Infamous possibly with it's own type of prequel storyline (Unless the editions are the only backstory we get) but considering that we will find out more about the ending of Infamous 2, well the good one anyway, then we could see a type of story involving how attitudes Conduits have become somewhat vigorous, the formation of the DUP maybe what happened to so many characters at the end of the game. What happened to Zeke? What about the Conduits we will find in this game? Will they have some part to play too with their own personal origin stories? Maybe it will act as some sort of flashback sequence or maybe gaining memories of people or artifacts during a trip to New Marais or something. The only thing I know for a fact is that if we do get to control Delsin 7 years ago, he'll be about my age!
There will of course be some form of clothing like we get with many editions such as the Mass Effect 3 editions which weren't launched in to Space and we could get ourselves some N7 T-Shirts or Jackets. Delsin Rowe's Beanie Hat will make it's arrival if you were to pre-order but I don't think it will be the source of his powers unless it is via a twist or he stole many of his powers from his brother? So don't expect to achieve pickpocketing powers just yet!
Don't threat if you've already pre-ordered! You'll be automatically upgraded to the limited edition version!
Last but not least, it appears like Sucker Punch is respecting the character that made the series what it is which is what I believe we'll see in many other games. I mean, no matter if we get many new characters in Mass Effect and Killzone, we will always remember the heroes and villains that started the series off for example Commander Shepard and Jake Gyllenhale. You will understand if you've played Killzone 3.
So what better way to do this and give over Cole's jacket to Delsin? I'm sure Mr. Macgrath won't mind but if might smell after a few years.
Finally, we will of course get the full game.
Now the Collector's Edition!
For those looking to impress their friends and fellow Conduits with the whole bunch of collectibles the Comic Book Guy would keep locked in his safe, we've got the edition for you! The collector's edition will not only feature practically everything from the limited edition but now a whole bunch of pins to go with your Beanie or stick on your refrigerator with images of those you would likely find in Sucker Punch's museum of nostalgia. Added with a new jacket for in-game and vinyl decals which are a type of removable sticker. Trust me! I Googled it.
Although that's not all I have to talk about. There is one final thing which many of you may not know about. The release date. We know it is soon to be released sometime in February but it seems Amazon may have spilled the beans on what it will be specifically which is... February 21. Just a year and a day after the game's first announcement which is certainly a record for Sucker Punch. It may not be the accurate date. I mean they could always delay the game but I don't thin anyone would like that! Especially after the horrors of delays including Watch Dogs, The Crew and South Park more games to be delayed would make us all feel uneasy.
Considering this date, it would seem likely that we will see plenty more trailers on the horizon towards Christmas which will only mean plenty of more Infamous blogs from moi as an early Christmas present! However like many other games, especially like Assassin's Creed, it's possible that many games may be keeping quiet about their games as well as their storylines. Probably to surprise everyone which wouldn't necessarily be good if an AC setting was announced on the day.
So what do you think about these editions? Do you think you will be buying this game or just skip it for another?
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed.
