E3 2014 wishlist

Hey guys and gals! Once again, it's been a while since my last blog post and I'm not really write much about news and update stuff even for video games but there were some games at E3 that I was really hoping for but ultimately never became reality... until possibly next year where we could have loads of cool games. Plus it's never too early to look ahead, even as far as the Playstation 122! 0_0 Although it will be unlikely to predict whether video games will exist until then but if they do, we can expect to see an Uncharted 1446.

So today, I'm just gonna list a few games off the top of my head which I would love to see, why we will likely see them at E3 next year but also why they may not be a possibility for next year or may even never appear at an E3 at all. There's no doubt that there are hundreds if not thousands of games we would all love to see at some point and many which we cling to on hope that many series will return but E3 2014 has all kinds of possibilities especially with the next gen on our doorstep.

So here's just a few of the games I would like to include in my wishlist and if you enjoy this blog, I may write many more in the future every few weeks... months... years... I'll eventually get round to another one. :) Plus feel free to use the wallpapers but remember they're not my wallpapers. Wasn't much of a painter in school. :( So here goes and the first runner up...

Jak 4

What is it?

Ah, how I miss this series ever since completing Jak 3 from the same creators of Uncharted, Naughty Dog or what many people mispronounce, Funky Dog. :D However if you didn't already know, Jak isn't actually the series itself but part of the Jak and Daxter series, full of all kinds of platforming action and a companion known as Daxter who has to frequently avoid becoming Ottsel stew. Based on a World where the Humanoid species have long pointy ears, a substance known as eco which adds to this platforming fun with all kinds of super powers and all kinds of native species which aren't afraid to take over the World, now and again. All of which created by a mysterious species known as The Precursors at which some of their infamous creation of dark eco has led The World astray multiple times but no biggie.

However, the events of Jak 2 led to a much different turn. Transported in to a strange new city known as Haven City dominated by a tyrant and surrounded by dangerous creatures, represents a new side of the series at which the darker, yet more realistic tone led to weapons based of eco as a main offense of the game which is probably why it was changed to Jak as some sort of reboot... or maybe Daxter played a prank on the developers and ultimately signed Daxter's name out of the history books but the game never showed signs of losing it's platforming, nor it's storytelling.

Yes, Jak does turn in to a non-mute out for revenge and many new environments and characters of many different backrounds from jubbly, crimelords to speedy racers but it does bring back many of it's characters from the previous game as well with a well connected storyline like a well wrapped present at Christmas, yet the series is still able to morph 2 themes together which has attracted many audiences of many types where it's become a successful franchise and under the watchful eye of Sony.

Ever since these chain of events, the series has remained within Haven City with many of The World's secrets uncovered but many J&D fans including me, know that there is much more to be discovered. I won't say too much just in case you're aiming to buy it tomorrow or sometime in the future but many stories still haven't been 100% complete and many villains are thought to still be alive. I'm not sure if they'll return as Zombies but it's unlikely. Too mainstream. ;)

Why next year?

Bit of backround knowledge for ya. Naughty Dog never really aimed at ditching the series after Jak X. In fact many didn't want to move on to Uncharted whereas many were getting bored at the designs which I suppose I can understand after years of drawing the same creations for the series, it might get a tad dull but that goes for many other series anyway and they keep on going for fresh new things. More than a minty breath! 0_0

Although before Jak X, the combat racing game was in the place of a new J&D game known as Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. You're probably saying, hey haven't we already had that game? Well indeed we have but the rights were given to High Impacts games where it looks like they went in a completely new direction for the franchise. Maybe they thought ND would come back and finish the series. Anyways, since ND and Insomniac Games were competing with spin-off titles including Ratchet: Deadlocked (as much as they want to deny that they're not enemies), Jak X was formed and thus a new J&D game on the PS3 was lost forever.

But... we've been receiving so many hints from ND itself from an multiplayer being similar to Uncharted and if Nolan North isn'tgoing to be in Uncharted 4, will they decide to back to their roots and possibly recruit some of their staff? Also whenever a series becomes a HD collection, there seems to be brand new sequel and this has happened many times from Infamous to Tomb Raider. Coincidence... 0:40

That video was completely unrelated to the topic an yes we did all get swallowed by a black hole sometime back in 2012 but I couldn't find anywhere else that got that badass, foreshadowing quote, "I think not."

Back to the blog at hand, there's also a problem if it was released sometime next year. Why? Well ever since this current gen started, platformers like R&C and J&D have had to become mature games as in blood and less creativity and imagination. I remember I was talking about those franchises before and I got laughed at by people because they've never even played the series before. However I think there is hope.

A lot of gamers I know who have been fellow pals with the ND games for sometime, love J&D and would no doubt arrive with a copy of the game at release. You know, after a few nights of camping outside of the video game store entrance. Plus many games with superpowers have been able to stay strong like Infamous and Sony will always be there to publish the series.

However sometimes, I wonder whether this game could be developed by ND's original founders, Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin since Uncharted seems to have lost their touch with platforming and too focused on the Uncharted series and they have said that they would go back to video gaming together with a social networking game. Maybe this is just the beginning! Possibly make up for the whole no PS3 thing. You know, aside from HD collections and all for easy trophies. :D Overall, if there is a new J&D game, we may be able to get some more hairstyles and whatnot! 0_0

Until then though, I think I'll wait for the next Uncharted game...

It's inevitable!

Just Cause 3

What is it?

Even though I've only played the second game of the series, it quickly became one of my favourite series with so much expanse in terms of environment, explosions and open world where there seems to be no vertical limit... until you reach that point where it slows you down and you fall back to the Earth. Yes, that's right! An expansive world of amazing environments, side missions and even glitches. We can't forget the glitches. Why? They make up the game and wouldn't be the same without it since it adds a lot of replayability especially with the Youtube feature giving you the option of showing these glitches out to your family, friends and to the World.

Who made this genius creation of one of the biggest open world games ever?! They're known as Avalanche Studios which is an independant video game company (or indie for short) where the first Just Cause made them become a big hit and even create a partnership with the legenadary Square Enix. Nice one!

Ever since then, it's been all great for them

Full pic

Whoa! Hold on! You're probably expecting where do I come in to all these glitches since I occasionally use funny vids from time to time (and I like my comedies plus you'll be pleased to see later in the blog) but I've actually had a few issues. All of the videos can't upload to Youtube via the feature and I have made like 5 Youtube accounts just for the game... but still didn't work. However I can say the ones that are included on my PS3 videos include Rico being stuck with his legs flailing out half way through the car and helicopters magically falling out of the sky only to keep on crashing and rolling off the cliff edge and in to destruction below.

The most insane thing that happened was stunt jumping from a fighter jet above the tallest mountains in the game, hitting the side which performed a roll and he was falling much slower than usual to Earth, plus with a cartwheel going all the way to the ground lol. After about 15 minutes from a journey which would have took 5 minutes maximum, he hit the ground without a scratch and said, "Shesh."

There's just one problem... I didn't record it! Many of you may call this insane but in the Islands of Panau, this is the usual day to day kind of thing. Although I haven't told you another problem... when I think there's gonna be something crazy, I don't record it... and something insane happens which proves that sometimes, the best things aren't recorded but fortunately, it's in your favour in this case because crazy stuff isn't very hard to find. :D It's no longer like a treasure hunt!

Why next year?

Now we have to look at what Avalanche Studios is doing now. Well, they've began development of a video game adaptation known as Mad Max for current and next gen consoles which seems to take on various gameplay elements from Avalanche's shooting style so it's not surprising it's made by this company but I don't believe they are going stop the series that made the company what it is.

No! If anything, they will most likely expand it because with all these new PS4 games such as The Crew where you can travel miles and miles, 0_0 it's really the perfect playground for the Just Cause devs. This is what I like about independent companies. They're unpredictable. From one game, they may reach above the charts and may innovate gaming in many ways like many developers have before like Ubisoft and expand to a time where they could even develop their very own consoles. Maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself here but it could happen!

There is one other thing. There has been a Just Cause 4 website for it's domain that was leaked about a year ago and unless they've done something wrong with their calculations, does this mean that JC4 is only in pre-development steps and JC3 is already in the works and JC2 did have about a 4 year gap between the original so I could see a game being released sometime 2014/2015 Plus a few pics were released about a game set in World War 2 that was cancelled... or are they just lying and it's really the long awaited JC3? Just like how Nolan North says he won't be Uncharted 4 but even if he isn't, at least we'll have some Metal Gear Solid easter eggs. ;)

So here are some pics that were released. To me, it does look like a WW2 game with the Zepplin and the 1940s style motorbike. However who knows if they were expanding the series.

The gameplay does look very familiar but who knows what they will come up with next. Maybe a few volcanoes, islands full of minefields and who can forget tornadoes. :D

However maybe there won't be a new installment in the series since after all, they've moved on and like many companies, they may not look back. However, if you want my opinion, I could see a 2014 announcement with a 2015 release but if we're lucky, maybe a Christmas 2014 release so we have snowball fights. You know, with bombs and stuff. with the multiplayer feature... not just for PC anymore!

If you didn't know what I was talking about with the crazy glitches, watch the vid below. You won't regret it! :D

Final Fantasy IX spin off

What is it?

If there's one series that has seen it's plenty share of controversy, it's definitely Final Fantasy. The series is a Japanese role-playing game (JRPG for short) well I should probably say was, since the series has changed so much across all the generations from the fourth to the upcoming eighth. Many people know that the FFXV game for the next gen will be the end for the traditional gamers and ultimately be reshaping for the latest gen who mostly want action and multiplayer.

However when did this all start? To my belief, even though I haven't played many of the games, nor have I got very far on FFIX (which is the only (FF game I've played, you know apart from quick and easy demos) but after some research, it seems like it may have been sometime after FFIX-FFXII games but it will always be debated and the fact that every numbered title introduces a new world, makes it easy to for the developers to change he feel of the series from the environment and music to action based and strategy. So every FF game will have a new developer team, new composer, etc. However this keeps on driving away fans further in different ways and ultimately losing fans but gaining new audiences in the process.

So after a few things that will possibly start a few discussions, FFIX is based in the world of Gaia with 4 continents...

...yet also the most diverse FF game ever created. Why? Well there's only about 3 or so Humans in the game with other races playable but even the Humans have their unique qualities. From sword fighting from Zidane to black magic with Vivi. Like most of the FF series, you have to mix up when you would fight and use potions which was where the strategy came in to play but unlike the latest games, you couldn't move around. It was kinda like Pokemon where you pick a button and hope it has an effect where if the enemy survives, it will respond... and never in any good ways so you'd have to be careful what you picked and that's why I think that's where the FF series may have diverted in a new direction afterwards in the sixth generation, when we had the legendary PS2 around and even the fabled Gamecube! 0_0

Full pic

Now don't laugh at the frowns. It's good for PS1 and many people find it as badass... but the guard always cracked me up. :D

So the story? It takes place with Zidane (4th from right) and Theater Troupe attempt to kidnap Princess Garnet but things actually turn unexpected and she in fact wants to go with the bandits to see the World where the ship they're travelling in (it flies!) crash lands in a forest where the game takes off from there.

Why next year?

For me, it's been a while since I've played a game which requires real time strategy where you can fight and wait for the enemy to attack. You can't move around so you have to make your own decisions carefully. Many of these games were shooters like Worms but in particular, Hogs of War became a great came full of humour. I mean, who doesn't want to play as Piggy soldiers in a war game?

I still haven't answered the question but here's my answer. If there's a game that would take me back to the FF' grasp would have to be some sort of sequel or at least a spin off. At the time, I don't think the developers really wanted direct sequels at the time and considering the story (yes, I did see a few spoilers), it makes sense to make a spin off of one of the games. No doubt, there are some cool JRPGs which I play to get soon like Rainbow Moon but in all honesty, a new FFIX would be my next Assassin's Creed game. AKA I play it a lot. You know, from time to time. ;)

Like I said, my history on the Final Fantasy series is pretty vague so I won't consider myself to be very reliable with this sort of thing and I didn't even get very far in the game! This was when there were like 4 discs too! I was still on the first disk and I got stuck on a part when Zidane (the guy with the tail), was separated from his friends and was trapped in a cave where the only way to escape was forwards. All that was there to help me was a save point... and that's the thing that ruined everything. Past that point, was a black mage with a dragon. I couldn't get past it since I had no potions left. I knew I should have gone to that shop where there were selling a load of potions before entering the suspicious, looking dark cave. I hear, that after the cave part, you get to use Chocobo and go open world. NOOOO!!!

I did see later parts my brother was playing and all the places and events looked so cool and I felt thoughts of awe yet some jealousy since I wanted to get that far in the game. If I was able to play from those points, it would have been the first open world game I would play. In other words, one of my favourite genres.

Full pic

Anyways, maybe I should probably save this for a later blog but I think that FFIX was the most underrated game out of the main FF series. It was the borderline of the PS1 and PS2 and back then, not many games were for both current and next gen consoles. Lucky for us now but for FFIX, most people bought the PS2 and waited for the FFX game. Really unlikely to be announced or even in development progress. Like the developers have forgotten about all their previous games. Well apart from gamers, who have recently found some new stuff from a game 13 years ago. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-28-final-fantasy-9-sidequest-discovered-after-13-years Maybe it links in to the next game I'm gonna talk about! 0_0

Soul Reaver reboot

This will be the last game I'll talk about since it's been a long week for me... and a long blog! 0_0  However, you're in luck because this may just be the start of a new blog series! Plus this is also a time for a few Raziel wallpapers!

What is it?

Okay, Soul Reaver is part of a series itself known as the Legacy of Kain, set in the dark world of Nosgroth which is a goldmine for Vampires, Ghouls etc. Surrounding Kain who was murdered yet resurrected as a Vampire where his first born son, Raziel met the same fate 1500 years after the events of Blood Omen thus where Raziel became the main character of the Soul Reaver series. If you didn't know, this series was inspired by Vampire mythology but also, man's free will which allows players to interpret their morality of the games, mostly due to the fact that Raziel isn't a hero, neither a villain. A character who possesses both traits. You guessed? An anti-hero which seems to be what current audiences want these days.

Full pic

Why next year?

Now there seems to be a reoccurring pattern within my list... some of the games I haven't even got very far or played. Where does this apply to Soul Reaver? I've only played a demo but I loved it! The climbing, fighting... There wasn't much criticized about the games released apart from a few issues with the story but overall, it was well connected. Maybe even more complex than Assassin's Creed.

Now that I think of it, I did actually have the chance to buy the game on PS Store. Both Soul Reaver 1 and 2... but I went with ACR: Lost Archive DLC which I thoroughly enjoyed and the story is what makes it so replayable. Before I get sweped up in the AC story, after buying it, I was 2p less from affording a SR game on my PSN wallet. Then they changed it to Xbox Live version so now I can't find a thing. :(

Full pic

However this game is actually a real possibility. This game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix who are the same developers of Final Fantasy, Just Cause, Tomb Raider and last but not least, Kingdom Hearts and they have already said there's a new game in development set in the world of Nosgroth but there is a catch... it might be only a multiplayer game which may not be so bad. Most of the games from the 2 companies I enjoy lots so I wouldn't mind as long as it is awesome like their previous games. There is no word about Raziel but if you can play as him, I call shotgun!

Full pic

Ah, who am I kidding? There's a bunch of awesome wallpapers on this site. :)  http://games.alphacoders.com/games/view_wallpapers/22261

So, uh I think I may stop there but here's a few of the things I will talk about next time and who knows? If these games aren't announced at the next E3, maybe they could be something for the MyIGN console. ;)

Last but not least...

If there's anywhere where you think I may have bored you, please let me know like if you think I should write less but include more games or even a full blog on each. If you have something to say, don't hesitate to write in the comments below. :) So what games would you like for your E3 2014 wishlist?

Thanks for reading! Have a good day. :)
